Rep. Jefferson Gets Seat on Homeland Security - WP - WTF - this is going to

be really bad. We're against corruption, removed him from one committee when in Minority status, and yet he gets Homeland Security! This is one big fuckup on Pelosi's part.

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/capitol-briefing/

Rep. William Jefferson, the Louisiana Democrat who's facing an ongoing federal corruption probe, is being granted a spot on the Homeland Security Committee, according to Democratic aides.

snip

Jefferson was removed from his seat on the Ways and Means Committee, one of the most important panels in Congress, by Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) last summer in an attempt to show how seriously Democrats viewed the allegations of corruption.

snip

A former Jefferson aide has already pleaded guilty to corruption in the ongoing investigation, as has a businessman who alleged in his plea agreement that he bribed Jefferson in order to win contracts with African nations.

4. Wow. Someone who understands and respects the law. . .
and doesn't find it convenient to jettison when it conflicts with their ideologies or their hatred. How refreshing a find, here on DU.

Thanks, pitohui. Not the first time I've found you a stalwart for what's right. Always appreciated, at least from this quarter.

He is corrupt politician and needs to go.

8. Shame on Nancy Pelosi!
She refused to appoint Alcee Hastings as chair of the judiciary committee because he was impeached (the case was later overturned when it was discovered that the Bush 41 Justice Department was found guilty of prosecutorial misconduct) but she appoints this idiot to Homeland Security.

9. The fact that he hasnt been charged with anything and his office was raided under"whitehouse" orders
And the fact that the so called raid happened at the peak of the Abramoff scandal says it all for me.

10. I live in his district
This guy is every bit as corrupt as ANY Repuke you can find. I mean it. A corrupt, evil to the core, whore.

This guy commandeered a national guard battalion to go to his personal home during the days after Katrina, taking them away from their search and rescue, so they could escort him to his home for personal effects. Same home they later found $90K in marked cash in his freezer.

We need to get rid of this corrupt bastard. He is bad, bad, bad for the party.
