Dems: War rebuke first step toward righting wrongs(radio address)
Edited on Sat Feb-17-07 11:59 AM by cal04
• Naval reservist Rep. Chris Carney gives address; worked as Pentagon analyst
• Carney: Dems held more hearings on war in weeks than GOP has in years
• Carney: Resolution opposing troop buildup just start of "efforts to right this ship."
• Bush allies think resolution could lead to cutting down in funds for war

The House's symbolic rebuke of President Bush's war strategy was just the beginning of Democrats' efforts to "right this ship," Rep. Chris Carney said Saturday.

"Finally we have a Congress that will demand the truth and accountability from this administration, about the costs of the war, about the reality of the war strategy and about the impact of the war on our larger national security," Carney, a Pennsylvania Democrat who serves in the Naval Reserves, said in his party's weekly radio address.

"The bipartisan resolution opposing the president's plan was just the beginning of our efforts to right this ship," said Carney, who worked as an intelligence analyst at the Pentagon.

Carney said Democrats have, in the past few weeks, had more oversight hearings on the war than Republicans did in previous Congresses in the past several years.

6. K&R for the House Dems....
It's about time.....now let's hope they keep on moving forward. This country has suffered far too long under the treasonous actions of the administration.
