Muslim ministers meet in Pakistan on Mideast
Foreign ministers from seven key Muslim states gathered in the Pakistani capital for talks on a new Islamic initiative to end the turmoil in the Middle East.

The ministers from Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey were set to focus on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the ongoing bloodshed in Iraq and tensions over Iran's nuclear programme.

The goal is to lay the groundwork for a future leaders' summit to be hosted by Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah.

"There is a need to do something because the situation is just slipping out of control," a Pakistani government official said on condition of anonymity.
