Congressmen Holt and Menendez to endorse Dean
6 of NJ's 7 democratic congressmen have made endorsements. Pallone, Holt and Menendez have enodrsed Dean, Pascrell has endorsed Kerry, Rothman has endorsed Lieberman and Andrews has endorsed Gephardt. Donald Payne, the most liberal democrat from NJ, has yet to endorse anyone. Governor McGreevey will also endorse Dean tomorrow.

Rep. Rush Holt will also endorse Howard Dean at the Trenton news conference tomorrow: "I'm endorsing Governor Howard Dean for president because I share his commitment to reconnecting
Americans with their democracy and for restoring their confidence in government's ability to serve the public good. Governor Dean has launched a revolutionary grass roots movement that is inspiring Americans in New Jersey and across the country. He would make an excellent president and he has already shown that he is the type of candidate who can defeat an incumbent." (12/18/03)

Rep. Bob Menendez, the number three member of the House Democratic leadership and the titular head of the Hudson County Democratic organization, has decided to endorse Howard Dean for President. (12/18/03)

2. Holt is NJ's best congressman
He is usually a solid liberal vote but isn't on the extreme. I really don't like Menendez. He seems very arrogant and I could do without his political bullying in Hudson County.

3. Schakowsky is announcing her support today too!
There's no link because she told me about it herself today at a meeting! So I got it straight from Jan's mouth. The formal endorsement call was made an hour or so ago so there should be press soon.

4. Amazing
The deluge of endorsements before a vote has been cast is striking. I don't remember so many so early but that might just be my bad memory.

10. Miamicubano radio: Menendez says Dean will keep the embargo on Cuba
Edited on Thu Dec-18-03 09:57 PM by Mika

Looks like Dean will continue to endorse the Bush Doctrine re: Cuba, and support the continued abrogation of our travel rights.

11. Here's the official (Holt) announcement:
Holt Endorses Dean
TRENTON--Congressman Rush Holt (NJ-12) today endorsed Governor Howard Dean, citing his ability to defeat George W. Bush and take back the White House in 2004.

"I'm endorsing Governor Howard Dean for president because I share his commitment to reconnecting Americans with their democracy and for restoring their confidence in government's ability to serve the public good. Governor Dean has launched a revolutionary grass roots movement that is inspiring Americans in New Jersey and across the country. He would make an excellent president and he has already shown that he is the type of candidate who can defeat an incumbent," Congressman Holt said.
