Washington Times: George Allen considering run for Warner's Senate seat
http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/inbeltway.htm

Inside the Beltway has learned that former Sen. George Allen, Virginia Republican, will host a private dinner in Old Town Alexandria in the coming days to discuss whether to seek the Senate seat now held by senior Republican Sen. John W. Warner, if the five-term incumbent were to step down in 2008.
Mr. Allen lost his seat in November to Democrat James H. Webb Jr. Speculation of late also had Mr. Allen considering a run for Virginia governor in 2009, a post he also previously held.

2. Given that Warner sabatoged North's Senate run
and in light of Allen's issues last election I'd be interested in seeing if Warner would run again for no other reason than keeping Allen out of the Senate.

13. John threw his whole support behind Allen in '06
He did a long commercial with him. Apparently he was quite upset that he wasn't able to swing it to Allen (maybe he made it closer).

Did I read your post wrong?

John DID keep Ollie North out of the Senate. Thank god for that

19. Hmmmm. I didn't realize that Warner actually took a strong stand for Allen last time
Well, I can hold out hope that Warner will show the guts he did with the North candidacy and endorse someone other than Allen next time since Allen won't be the incumbent next time around.

More than enough time for Allen to embarass himself further and Warner just recently publically disagreed with Pace over his comments so he's not a complete lock-step at this point.

3. Maybe MARK Warner (D) will get in the mix and thump Macaca
Mark Warner's approval ratings were significantly better than Macaca's.

10. THAT would be perfect.
Mark Warner was aiming too high to try for the presidency. The senate would be a perfect place and he would easily beat macaca.

8. If it was M.Warner vs. George Allen
Edited on Thu Mar-15-07 10:41 AM by DemKR
I think we have nothing to worry about :)

There will be a whole new meaning to "the real world of Virginia" for George Allen if he tried that one.

20. Allen has been feeding from the public trough long enough.
Way past time to look for private sector employment. He might check with his local branch of the KKK. They could probably find him something.
