Truck bombers using chlorine kill 8 in Iraq
Truck bombers using chlorine kill 8 in Iraq

FALLUJA, Iraq, March 17 (Reuters) - Two suicide truck bombers driving tanks filled with chlorine killed at least eight people and 85 were made ill on Friday in the western Iraqi town of Falluja, hospital sources said on Saturday.

The first attack was at the entrance of Amiriyat Falluja, a large housing complex south of Falluja, that killed six people including policemen and making 79 ill, including 27 children.

The second bomber targeted a tribal leader opposed to al Qaeda nearby when he blew up his tanker outside the man's home, killing two people and making six ill because of exposure to the chemical.

Militants have used chlorine as a weapon in the past. At least two bombings involving chlorine killed eight people in February.

6. If Janis is right and "Freedom's just another word for
nothing left to lose" then we have truly brought freedom to all Iraqis. Thank you Mr Bush and may you die a horrible and lingering death when your time finally comes, it cannot be too soon.

10. Interesting....
I have heard from my buds in Anbar that the shiekhs have slowly been turning against Al Qaeda. Not exactly that they are becoming pro-US or anything but that Al qaeda is more destructive than we are. If this is as it appears, Al qaeda just signalled they will go to war with their one secure base of support in country........Sometimes I think al qaeda is stupider than the President......

By Karin Brulliard
Washington Post Staff Writer
Sunday, March 18, 2007; Page A20

BAGHDAD, March 17 -- Three trucks rigged with chlorine and explosives blew up in the Sunni insurgent center of Anbar province Friday, killing at least eight people and sickening hundreds, U.S. and Iraqi officials said Saturday. The U.S. military also reported the deaths of six American soldiers in other attacks.

The chlorine bombs -- two near Fallujah and one near Ramadi -- left at least 350 people and seven U.S. soldiers ill from exposure to the chemical, the military said. At least eight people were killed in the Fallujah bombings, including two policemen, said Sadoun Abdul Karim, an official with the Ministry of Interior.
