Today's Civil Defense Exercise Largest Since 1948 (Israel National News)
Source: IsraelNN.com

(IsraelNN.com) The IDF Home Front Command is holding the largest civil defense drill in Israel's history today and tomorrow (Tuesday and Wednesday). The drill will simulate a combined attack on Israel on all fronts.

“Sirens will be heard at 2 PM Tuesday in many parts of central and southern Israel and heightened activity of IDF, police and rescue forces will be noticeable during the exercise. Traffic disruptions may be felt and blast sounds may be heard across the country,” the Home Front Command announced.

The wail of sirens will be heard in most of Israel, from Hadera to the Negev desert, including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Beersheva, Raanana, Holon, Ramat Gan, Ashkelon, Petach Tikva and Dimona. In case of a real emergency, the public will be notified through the mass media.

Magen David Adom, Israel's emergency rescue service, says this is the largest nationwide drill ever held since Israel's declaration of independence in 1948. Nine MDA districts will participate simultaneously and have to deal with an unprecedented number of events and very large number of simulated victims.

3. Of course they are...
If Israel were to, for example, lengthen a runway, the talk would be that that was b/c plans for major military airlifts from the US were beginning, not that the new Airbus might now be able to land there. No motive too impure for reflection here...

Meanwhile, I don't awaken Sunday AM's with news of cafe bombings anymore. Wonder why.
