Attorneys’ Case Will Be Subject of Political Ad

WASHINGTON, March 20 —Illustrating the potential political fallout from removing eight federal prosecutors, the House Democratic campaign committee plans to begin broadcasting a radio advertisement on Wednesday that seeks to link a Republican member of Congress to the controversy.

In its first advertisements of the 2008 election cycle, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is underwriting a commercial that calls on Representative Heather A. Wilson of New Mexico to release telephone records related to her contacts with the former United States attorney there.

Ms. Wilson, who won a narrow victory in November, was identified by the ousted prosecutor, David C. Iglesias, as one of two members of Congress who had called him to inquire about the status of investigations related to New Mexico Democrats.

The 60-second commercial, to be broadcast for five days in her district, begins with a ringing telephone.

“A phone call is made,” the announcer says. “A scandal begins.”...

3. Well, GOOD for the Dems! I've said all along they should start using the Pub
tactics and it looks like they're beginning to listen to that advise.! I wonder what radio atations are going to run that ad? The article didn't say.

6. It's a mistake to run this commercial
They should crank up their email with the bullet points, and let the grassroots write the letters and blogs and get the info out. That and hand it off to PFAW. We haven't even begun with this yet, and the DCCC is already acting as if it's over and done with. This is putting the politics of it over good governance. That's what people are sick of.

There'll be plenty of time to score points on this politically.

This plays right into the spin that the Republicans are pushing, that the Democrats are just playing politics.
