AP: Dean Leads Democrats in Calif., Poll Says
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20030722/ap_on_el_pr/democrats_poll

Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean and Sens. John Kerry and Joe Lieberman are bunched together in the top tier of Democratic presidential candidates in California, according to a new poll.

Dean was favored by 16 percent of those likely to vote in the state's Democratic primary next March, according to a poll released Tuesday by the nonpartisan Field Research Institute. He was followed closely by Kerry of Massachusetts at 15 percent and Lieberman of Connecticut at 14 percent.

Support for Dean in California has more than doubled since the last Field Poll. In April, Dean was favored by just 7 percent of likely Democratic voters, far behind Lieberman's 22 percent and Kerry's 16 percent.

The poll found Dean's support strongest among men, college graduates and people who call themselves "liberal." Kerry polled best among voters over age 50, college graduates and those living in the San Francisco Bay area.

2. Sunday's Los Angeles Times Called Him "The Leading Candidate"
Howard Dean will be the Democratic Nominee.

The angry base will not be deterred and they are the ones who vote in Primaries.

Thanks for the post.

3. "The poll found Dean's support strongest among men..."
Good, then we needn't worry that Dr. Dean will hire Naomi Wolf to tell him how to dress more like an "Alpha Male," in hopes of gaining a bigger share of the male vote.

8. Awesome, awesome news!!
I haven't decided who I'm supporting yet, but the good news for me here is that someone, in this case Dean, has clearly broken out of the "name recognition" factor. I was always puzzled that Lieberman led most polls up until now, but it appears people are finally really listening to the candidates.

Go Dean! Great news. :-)

9. lieberman
in my opinion only led early due to the name recognition factor from 2000. cant imagine what else he could have going for him.. not to upset any JL supporters in here tho
