Democrats oppose ambassador nominee over Swift Boat contribution

WASHINGTON --As one of the GOP's most prominent national fundraisers, Sam Fox should have an easy road to an appealing diplomatic post.

But Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., and other Democrats are raising concerns about Fox's nomination to be ambassador to Belgium because of a $50,000 contribution Fox made in 2004 to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

Many Democrats blame the group for sinking Kerry's presidential hopes that year after it aired a series of controversial ads that impugned Kerry's military record in the Vietnam War.

With a vote on Fox expected Wednesday in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Kerry's Vietnam crew mates on Tuesday sent a letter urging committee members to oppose Fox's nomination. A copy of the letter was obtained by the Associated Press.

The media uses these terms to not do their job and investigate and report whether or not the situation is true or not.

If he passes the Senate there is no hope at all left..

This nomination should be a non-starter.

Fox is obviously a crony, a partisan hack. With NO foreign service credentials.

If any Democrat votes to confirm him - ah ,what's the use...
