2. We all agree she didnt look happy, right?
She looked SO pissed off until the end.

And you could hear in her speech...she thanked local government...she thanked family...she thanked the Iraqis who helped her.

But she didn't thank *.

VERY TELLING...

4. I was waiting for that...
I was hoping she would show her class by thanking the Iraqi folks who had helped save her.

Another thing I noted was her reference to the many stories she'd read about her rescue in which she made a point to say the one thing that was true -- what she said upon her retrieval.

This poor gal has been put in a shitty situation by our government and their lies about her recovery from the hospital -- it will be a burden she will have to live with for the rest of her life.

I heard it over the Net, no visual.

Did you catch her brother? That poor SOB! If a dear in headlights could talk it would sound just like him.

3. Damn ...
She just thanked "several Iraqi citizens who helped her in the hospital"...and..."the group of armed Soldiers who saved her life."

The speach was scripted and I would expect little else. Not just 'cause it's a PR piece but that she isn't a public speaker...as far as I have ever heard.

So, the lie continues.

She was saved in a blaze of glory by the Armican military from the evil clutches of those bastard Dr.s and nurses who ruthlessly cared for her and helped to heal her wounds.

All I can do is shake my head and wonder if the truth will out some day.

Good luck PFC Lynch, you will need it.

22. Hmm....
..."the group of armed Soldiers who saved her life."

Was it clear that she was refering to US soldiers "rescuing" her from the hospital, or could it be that she was refering to the Iraqi soldiers who pulled her out of her wrecked vehicle and took her to a hospital?

24. Good point!
I was wondering at the odd wording. I mean "group of armed soliders"? Not those wonderful American boys, or, thanks to the rescue team who got me out - no - that odd phrase. Maybe we're reading too much into it, but it is strange.

26. It does seem strange...
As a sort of window into my thought processes on this, consider that it would not seem unusual to have heard that Iraqi soldiers left her to die or summarily executed her in the wreckage of her truck, but no, they pulled her out and took her to hospital.

I'm pretty sure these same thoughts must have occured to her as well, and maybe that is why she is thanking them, but she had to disguise it for fear of the backlash thanking Iraqi troops would have earned her.

As a soldier in the US army it is her duty to what is "best" for America.

8. Meaning no disrespect...
Edited on Tue Jul-22-03 02:38 PM by LuLu550
I mean no disrespect, but what exactly did she do to earn a Bronze Star?? I thought that was for uncommon valor and bravery...so what did she do? The reports of her shooting until her gun was empty were false, and she can't remember what happened....
Just wondering...

16. Kerry threw his medals back....maybe Lynch could show some
honesty....that would certainly guarantee her book rights and movie rights again...as it stands now, the whole LIE just isn't movie material....but a brave young woman standing up and telling the truth is the stuff that REAL American heros are made of....

18. She may have more at stake than Kerry right now.
The Bush Junta fired a couple of shots across the bow this week. They ruined the CIA career of Former Ambassador Wilsons wife. Who knows what the handlers are capable of. It's probably best for her to play the good soldier right now.

13. Was Lynch even a POW?
Don't you have to be held by the enemy to be a prisoner? As far as I know,
she was held by Iraqi doctors who nursed her back to health.

A bronze medal for a car wreck. Jesus!

17. Yes, I believe she was a POW
The following is the account of her story that I have heard. She was injured during an Iraqi ambush where she received broken bones and may or may not have been shot (this story has changed so much, I have lost track). The Iraqi soldiers took her to the hospital where the doctors and nurses treated her. According to one article that appeared in The Philadelphia Inquirer, these dedicated medical professionals not only treated her but also "shielded her from thugs." At one point, they tried to return her to the Americans in an ambulance because they were afraid that she might be taken to another hospital and possibly killed.

Here is a link to the article in The Philadelphia Inquirer : http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/5963924.htm .

28. Thanks for clearing this up for me...
I DO appreciate the pure hell she must have gone through (from both those shooting at them AND the sickly manipulative arms af BushCo).

Sad that such a nice young person has to be used like this.

14. She's in the process of quitting the army
As a soldier she's not allowed to profit from books or movies. Aside from that, what's the point of being in the army any longer? Now she'll get her college education.

30. she thanked special forces for rescuing her
and also some Iraqs for helping her in the hospital guess they didn't rate being named. I think they are going to stand by their story she was rescued under fire she thanked them specifically for saving her life.
Funny what a month under blackout will do to your story. She'll cop out and say she doesn't remember and collect a fat check for the fiction version of this story,.

31. Now put your nearest and dearest into that position ...
> Funny what a month under blackout will do to your story. She'll cop
> out and say she doesn't remember and collect a fat check for the
> fiction version of this story.

... and that is exactly what I would advise my daughter to do if
she were in the same situation as Lynch.

That way, she will i) live, ii) recover, iii) gradually fade into
the background and iv) always retain the option of "remembering"
at some point in the future if/when it is judged safe to do so.

The alternative (speak out against the BS) would be to invite the
exceedingly well-oiled media machine to flay her, her family and
her friends as often and as long as necessary. This would become
a back-burner issue to be flared up whenever divertionary tactics
are required. It would hit every relationship (regardless of the
nature or intensity), it would lead to all manner of "patriot"
stalking her (or worse).

Consider the flaming going in with regard to your Kobe trial at the
moment - with every indication that things will get even hotter and
messier than they already are (and no, I don't want anyone to
sidetrack this topic in response to this reference).

Would you want your daughter to be involved in a media blood frenzy
like that? How much digging into Lynch's background have we already
seen reported? And that's while she is a heroine, one of the star
players on "the good team" ...

Every boyfriend, every girlfriend, every classmate from school,
every neighbour, every distant relative would be questioned, many
times by many methods (some less honest than others) with only the
"juicy bits" being picked out and, dare I say it, exaggerated.
This is without getting into the infamous anonymous sources ...
the "Iraqi nurse", the "trooper", the "teacher", the "past
boyfriend/lesbian lover/porn photographer" or whatever.

If my daughter had the misfortune to get caught up in a mess like
this, I'm damn sure I wouldn't want her to paint a target on herself
for the sake of half a dozen words that most of the world would
never hear reported.

Nihil
