Wes Clark Blasts Bush For Rewriting Rationale For War

Little Rock - The Bush Administration has been touching up history and rewriting its rationale for going to war in Iraq. In recent weeks, the White House has redacted words it used on the White House website.

As the Washington Post reported today, the Bush Administration edited its website so that a May 1st speech by the President entitled "President Bush Announces Combat Operations in Iraq Have Ended," now reads "President Bush Announces /Major/ Combat Operations in Iraq Have Ended."

This is just the latest effort of the Bush Administration to change its rationale for war. Wes Clark said:

"First the Bush Administration played a game of bait-and-switch, by focusing on invading Iraq to distract the American people from their failure to round up al Qaeda."

"Now the Bush Administration is playing a shell game of shifting rationales for why we went to war in Iraq."

"Leadership isn't about playing tricks. It requires honesty and accountability. I would like to return those qualities to the White House."

1. Huzzah!
Amen, Brother Wes!

I love how the media, the pro-war crowd, and the part of the opposed-yet-tolerant crowd shift rationale from "he had WMD" to "he had WMD programs" to "he killed thousands of his own citizens" to "he was a threat to peace in the region" back to "he had WMD programs."

There was only one reason to go to war: WMD. Not WMD programs or any other crap. WMDs, in hand, as an imminent transcontinental threat.

So far we haven't found one shred that would indicate the original reason has been anything other than a flat-out lie backed up with cooked intelligence; it is an Enron of foreign policy decisions.

Keep up the work, Wes!

7. FYI: Official Campaign Press Releases are allowed in LBN.
During the campaign season, the LBN moderators have allowed the posting of Official Campaign Press Releases, as long as they otherwise meet the criteria for posting in the LBN Forum (no older than 12 hours at the time of posting; not a duplicate thread, etc.).

4. He is worried . . .
Why else would we be getting all those stories about Clark's alleged psychological problems, arrogance, ego, etc?

6. Bush quote inside LA Times story on David Kay
On Dec. 19, The Times had the following in a story on A5:

"So what's the difference?" Bush asked in an interview with ABC-TV. "If he were to acquire weapons, he would be the danger."

The story quoted anonymous sources that David Kay is ready to roll up his sleeping bag and come home cuz the stockpiles of WMD have not been found there.

And * says it doesn't matter, Hussein WANTED them and that's good enough reason to invade another country, to waste American lives as well as others, and to take responsibility for rebuilding a country that we arbitrarily chose to pummel. Total arrogance, unbelievable. Where is the outrage!
