‘Girls Gone Wild’ founder indicted in tax case

LOS ANGELES - “Girls Gone Wild” creator Joseph Francis was indicted Wednesday on charges that his companies, which sell videos of topless young women, claimed more than $20 million in false business expenses.

The federal indictment came one day after Francis was jailed on criminal contempt charges in Florida.

The Nevada indictment alleges that Mantra Films Inc. and its marketing arm, Sands Media Inc., claimed false deductions on the companies’ 2002 and 2003 corporate income tax returns, the Department of Justice said in a statement.

The indictment also charges that Francis, 34, of Incline Village, used offshore bank accounts and entities purportedly owned by others to conceal income he earned in those years.

Firstly, I think the man is a pig. Secondly, in my old age (not really that old) I have become anti-porn. Mostly. Exploitive porn (which you can make the argument that it all is) is toxic to women, men, and the relationships between them.

That said, it kind of makes me wonder if this is part of the obscenity crackdown that gonzales keeps spewing about.

That's kind of scary. The way I see it, they most likely cheated on their taxes. How many companies write off things they shouldn't? How many defense contractors fudged their taxes? How many will be indicted and prosecuted?

This is a targeted prosecution from the politicized DOJ.

That said, I'd love to see him put out of business.

arrogant prick. There are plenty of guys out there that do the same crap he does, but his ego has grown so large and his narcissism so extreme, that he began to think he actually believe he had power over people and could ruin them.

So his "little" tax cheating was all part of a what maybe termed his borderline personality of thinking he could get away with anything.

I've had to do some time before, and let me tell you, when they 'check you in', you don't have ANYTHING ON YOU, especially CASH, NO WAY..

You're lucky if you get to your cell with a pair of SOCKS. The only thing you can possibly trade for pills would be FOOD. If you get to Buy anything it's all on 'credit', a system set up within the jail.

I didn't go the same route this guy did, and it was County Jail, not Federal, but there's NO WAY he would have been tossed in a cell with all that crap available to him. He got SET UP.

They're going to put him away for a LONG time. Poor bastard. You'd cry too, believe me :)

there are cameras EVERYWHERE in jails.. so they saw this happen, I'm sure of it..

Most times you have a glass barrier, and YOU are searched before you visit, so the guards must have let these idiots slip in to nail them later.

I had a court order to give me my pain meds for a bad back when I was in, and when my little package arrived the prisoners would gather round me, and I'd hold it up and say, "Get the HELL Away from ME!" under the cameras, upend the meds in my mouth, swallow them, open my mouth to the camera, and then hand the package to the guard.

The Facility Medicine prick had told me, "If I find you've been giving your meds to anyone here.."

I said, "Yeah, right.. like I want to be the drug cartel for Cell Block K, with a xanax and a hydrocodone.. spend 20 years in a fed prison when I only got 20 days in this shithole.."

"Why don't you get your ass back up North" said the jerk.

I said, "Open that door, and it's the LAST You'll see of it.." :)

Southern jail, been compared to a South African Prison by CONGRESS..

It's a Lot harder than people think to get drugs in there now, used to be easier.. at least I've HEARD that :)

Sounds just like Cocky Joe to flash $500 cash in front of a guard (and the other inmates) in order to "get in good" with everyone. Personally, I don't think 'ol Joe gave a shit about the bottled water.

Yeah, I been to jail before, too, and I got no sympathy for this prick.
