Houston ChronicleAUSTIN — A former Texas Youth Commission guard who was accused of sexually abusing girls in his care at a facility in Brownwood is unlikely to face criminal charges.
A grand jury in Brownwood opted last week to no-bill the former guard on allegations he sexually abused a San Antonio girl, then 16, between 2003 and 2004, said Brown County District Attorney Michael Murray.
"We truly believed in this one case," Murray said today of his office's attempt to secure an indictment.
An internal agency investigation found sufficient evidence that the guard sexually abused four girls. Murray said his office presented the panel with allegations from one case.
