19. 24/7?
Yesterday the MSM inverted themselves to show B*sh as "healer". They were desperate for a "bullhorn moment"...

Honest coverage of this tragedy makes perfect sense to me. Get the American people some answers. I'm all for that. Using the tragedy as an opportunity to propel the perceived popularity of a war criminal president isn't ok. Just my 2 cents...

14. The buildings involved were all along the Nothrup Mall
It's been so long since I was there, I may get some of the building mixed up. Walter Library (Walter is the one on the East Bank and Wilson on the west, right?), Morrill and Johnston (or is it Johnson?) Halls along with 5 other buildings. My friend and I, both U of M alums, were just discussing last night that the U of M campus would be next to impossible to lock down as it is so large and open. It sounds like the U has a pretty good warning system though the local news reported that one class of 24 in Smith Hall completely missed the warnings and emerged from the building only after they realized there was no else in the hallways.

13. UPDATE from AP: 8 U of Minnesota Buildings Evacuated
8 U of Minnesota Buildings Evacuated

By ARCHIE INGERSOLL
The Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS - Eight buildings at the University of Minnesota were evacuated Wednesday after a professor discovered a bomb threat.

The professor found a note in Smith Hall that included a bomb threat against several campus buildings. The buildings, including a library, were evacuated and classes in those buildings were canceled for the day.

<snip>

University of Minnesota Police Chief Greg Hestness said the bomb threat had specific targets and gave a time frame of before 10 p.m. Wednesday. He said he was aware of the empty threats made against many schools around the country since Monday, but he couldn't discount the chance of a real attack.

<snip>

Bomb-sniffing dogs were brought in to sweep the evacuated buildings. Nothing unusual was found, but police said the buildings would be kept closed and observed overnight. The buildings were expected to reopen Thursday.

15. If this keeps going we'll have to confiscate all writing instruments.
Really, children, can't you just do your homework and study for your tests and try to get along with your fellow students?

Why be in school if you are just causing trouble?

18. Could You Believe This?
Edited on Thu Apr-19-07 01:28 AM by wellst0nev0ter
Apparently there was a chemistry midterm yesterday, so perhaps that's why some idiot called in a bomb threat:

Patel said she wasn't sure about the motives of the threat, but Chemistry 1021 had a test and said that "could be the reason."

"I don't know what was going on in that person's head when they announced the bomb threat," she said.

Heather Raco, first year pre-veterinary student, said she had a test in Smith Hall right before it was evacuated.

Raco said she left the building for a coffee break and when she came back all the doors were locked.

She and many other students had a chemistry mid-term in Smith Hall later in the day, she said.

Come on, I took that class and those Chem 1021 midterms are not that intimidating. Just 30 questions multiple choice. If it was organic chemistry, then maybe I would have understood.

22. This was my immediate thought as well:
some dumbass college student suddenly realizes you can get classes cancelled if you make a bomb threat. I wonder how many of the bomb scares we've had since the VT shootings are "test-related".
