LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Filmmaker Oliver Stone will direct a TV commercial questioning the Bush administration's military strategy in Iraq.

The Oscar-winning Vietnam veteran was hired by activist groups MoveOn.org and VoteVets.org to shoot a 30-second spot derived from video of U.S. soldiers and their family members speaking out against the war. Members of MoveOn will select one of 20 video interviews on its site, as well as on YouTube, for Stone to turn into a commercial.

``We have leaders in Washington who say they're 'supporting our troops' -- but the people who suffer most from their policies are the troops themselves,'' Stone said. ``I decided to participate in this project because, as a veteran, I know that America needs to listen to our servicemen and women.''

The videos under consideration can be viewed at http://www.pol.moveon.org/videovets. The commercial is expected to air in the coming weeks.

Stone rolling with new ad against war
By Andrew Wallenstein

Oliver Stone has been tapped to direct a proposed TV commercial questioning the Bush administration's military strategy in Iraq.

The veteran writer-director was hired by activist groups MoveOn.org and VoteVets.org to helm a 30-second spot derived from video of U.S. soldiers and their family members speaking out against the war. Members of MoveOn will select one of 20 video interviews on its site, as well as on YouTube, for Stone to turn into a commercial.

"We have leaders in Washington who say they're 'supporting our troops' -- but the people who suffer most from their policies are the troops themselves," Stone said. "I decided to participate in this project because, as a veteran, I know that America needs to listen to our servicemen and women."

6. still room to participate, too
I think if you go to the sites votevets.org & moveon.org, they provide links to allow you to preview the videos and vote on which you think is better or more effective. I got one of those in my email because I subscribe to votevets.

7. "A veteran who served honorably? Trash him." - Republicons
You can bet your bippy that the republicons will trash him BECAUSE Stone actually
served America in the Armed Forces.

Republicons hate our American veterans, and trash them all -- while cutting their benefits and screwing up the VA hospitals....

Why? Because all the republicons leaders and heroes are chickenhawks.

That's a fact jack.

"Republicon chickenhawks like Cheney, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, and Commander AWOL
demonstrate repeatedly that they hate America's honorable Veterans. That's a fact, Jack."

11. It's some pretty profound resentment, alright.
Anyone who actually went out and put his/her ass on the line and saw combat and accepted Uncle Sam's call to insert himself/herself into harm's way makes these other coddled, sniveling, scaredy-cat pansies look bad. It impugns their manhood. That's why they huff and puff and work up such a lather about how "We. Were. ATTACKED!" "Bring 'em on." "Let's go KICK THEIR ASSES!!" while they sit in their nice comfy chairs and luxury air-conditioned studios FAR from danger. They passed up the chance to prove themselves when they were younger. So they're trying to make up for lost time, once-removed, now. And how dare we rain on their day-late/dollar-short parade? How dare some of us have the gall to show them up for the cowards they are? I mean, just how frickin' dare we???

EVERY SINGLE ONE of our men and women in combat are doing exactly that, every day, though. EVERY MINUTE we have people sent off to war while these designer-suited pantiwaists stay home and talk tough and try to throw their weight around and bully others and look like big-ass big shots, they're looking bad. But heaven forbid cheney, limbaugh, even bush with his "champagne unit" duty he welched out on, and that guy-whose-name-rhymes-with-VANITY be forced to endure that shaming. No wonder they're so shrill and belligerent. We CAN'T have these poor saps looking bad, now, can we?

:sarcasm:

Those who agitate for war so damn badly should be the FIRST to suit up and go fight it. Or, if they're too old, be able to prove they paid their dues on that score when they were younger.
