Huckabee's Son Arrested With Handgun (At Airport)
Source: ABC News

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. Apr 26, 2007 (AP)— David Huckabee, a son of Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, was arrested at an Arkansas airport Thursday after a federal X-ray technician detected a loaded Glock pistol in his carry-on luggage.

"I removed the bag and asked Mr. Huckabee if he knew what he had in the bag," Little Rock police officer Arthur Nugent wrote in a report after he was summoned to a security checkpoint. "He replied he did now."

Huckabee, 26, later pleaded guilty in Little Rock District Court after being charged with a misdemeanor count of possessing a weapon in a prohibited place.

District Judge Lee Munson gave Huckabee a one-year suspended jail sentence and ordered him into 10 days of community service which Huckabee can avoid by paying $100. Huckabee will be on probation for a year. Fines and costs totaled $855.

11. but but but -- him is part of the EEEE-lite!
How DARE they drag off the spawn of a wealthy man?

If it was anyone else the airport would have been locked down, he would have been jumped by a dozen security guards, and there would have been coast to coast coverage with headlines screaming FEAR TERROR at the Airport!

He just got a nice taxi ride to court and a slap on the wrist.

Nothing to see here - move along. :grr:

$885 in fine for breaking gun laws. Thats a god damned speeding ticket.

24. Whether or not they think you did it intentionally.
Accidentally = misdemeanor, on purpose = felony (and loss of your right to so much as touch a gun for the rest of your life, plus prison time). If you have a squeaky-clean record (and sadly, if you're white) and there was no attempt to hide the gun from the X-ray, the authorities will probably accept that it was an accident. If it looks like you were trying to disguise/conceal the gun from the scanner, you have a record, or you look "suspicious" to the TSA guy, they would probably charge you with the felony and let you try to fight it in court.

36. HE ATTEMPTED TO CARRY A LOADED GUN ONTO A PLANE!
Edited on Fri Apr-27-07 05:23 PM by rocknation
I could buy the "accident" angle if he'd put it in CHECKED luggage--he may still have been nabbed, but at least he couldn't have been "mistaken" for a hijacker with a plan. But am I really supposed to believe that he didn't think there MIGHT be something wrong with bringing a loaded gun into a plane cabin?

34. Oh, it happened...
In today's Arkansas Democrat-Gazette it has a mention of the incident:

http://www2.arkansasonline.com/news/2007/apr/26/huckabee-son-arrested-airport-pistol-carry--bag/

In 1998, David Huckabee was one of two boys fired from a Boy Scout camp after a stray dog was killed when it wandered onto camp property. David Huckabee, 17 at the time, said the dog appeared ill; no charges were filed. The elder Huckabee said then that politics was behind the dog-killing accusation.

The dog was hung from a tree, had its throat slit and the stoned to death. There are accounts of what happened that were published at the time....all of them very disturbing. The state police started an investigation which Mike Huckabee deep-sixed.

http://www.utopiarescue.com/oldsite/stop_animal_torture.htm

(Miller County, Arkansas) Two boy scout counselors, 17 year old Clayton Frady and 18 year old David litickabee, the son of Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, have admitted to catching a stray dog during their summer session at Camp Pioneer in Hatfield, AR, and hanging the dog by his neck, slitting his throat and stoning him to death.

25. Why does he need a gun if he believes in God as much as his dad claims to?
Edited on Thu Apr-26-07 06:30 PM by ryanmuegge
God will protect him, right? I mean, that is if God is indeed as much of an interventionist on the part of the rich as the Republicans claim.

30. So, what if the same thing happened to a person of Arab descent?
Would he get charged with a misdemeanor, pay a fine and be on his way.

No, he would be used as a propaganda tool and then never see the light of day again.

35. Next He Will Appear with Babawa on the View apologizing for
being a dumb ass, saying I didn't know you could not bring a gun on an airplane, I was only 20 when 9/11 happended! Headspinner! This clearly qualifies his father to be the leader of the free world as he apparently has about the same parenting skills as the current Father in Chief!

On the other hand maybe he had a good excuse. Maybe he was heading off for a weekend hunting trip with his new best friend Dick!
