Government managers fight pro-union bill

HONOLULU (AP) _ Police chiefs, firefighter supervisors and trash collection managers rallied at the state Capitol yesterday.

They spoke out against a proposal they say would limit their ability to quickly send workers on new assignments.

The managers claim the bill would give too many negotiation rights to labor unions.

The measure still could be passed into law if the Legislature decides to override Governor Lingle's veto.

1. Small point but being from Hawaii does not make you Hawaiian.
Necessary but not sufficient- come to think of it, not even necessary. There are Hawaiians living elsewhere.
