McCain 'Very Nervous' About Iraq's Leader
Source: AP

FORT DODGE, Iowa -- In a campaign stop in Fort Dodge, Republican presidential contender Sen. John McCain said he opposes Iraqi leaders' plans to take a two-month summer vacation, a break that has drawn criticism fromcongressional Republicans and Democrats.

"I was as upset as that gentleman who asked the question to hear the rumors that they are going to take two months off," McCain said. "I don't think that's a good thing for them to do obviously."

...

McCain has made his support of the war a centerpiece of his campaign, but he has been speaking in increasingly negative terms about the government of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

"This Maliki government is my greatest concern," McCain said. "I'm very worried about that. I'm very nervous about that."

3. OK, so now we're getting ready to blame the Iraqi government
for this mess...the mess that we started and the Iraqi pols that we enabled. Good. McCain has a direct line to Rove and the WH.

5. Here's an idea, John -- you're so worried, why don't you go to Baghdad. . .
and run for Prime Minister there? After all, it's the "most important" issue of American security in the world today. Who better to lead the Iraqi's to the promised land of democracy than the Number 1 cheerleader for this catastrophuck?

6. Setting up the next scapegoat and excuse for an extension
See, when the surge doesn't do shit, then the occupiers are gonna change out their 'democratically elected' leaders again, and then ask the public for another six months to see how the new leader does. Then, it will be election season, then the next president can pull us out and the Repukes will attempt to hang the 'loss' on the Dem President who has the common sense to pull us out of this useless war. Vietnam II in other words.

7. actually this is not really a vacation
this is the folks in the Iraqi government getting the hell out of dodge before it call comes apart. If they go I doubt we will see them reconvene in September - some will hunker down in their own enclaves, some will just vanish and some will get out of Iraq all together.

8. The US can always topple Maliki, just like the previous leader
Ain't this Democracy great?

McCain needs to realize a lot of people in this country are worried and nervous about the leader of our own country and about the prospect of him becoming the next leader.

9. They're off to the Carribean with the money they siphoned from
US taxpayers.

Sun, surf, a new yacht, and a Cayman Islands bank account, with a Mona Lisa wink and smile of gratitude to Bu*h and the neo-cons for making it all possible.

... that did become painfully obvious during that first Repub debate. Creepy.

13. Hm....if I didn't know any better,
I'd say the Iraqis just found an Achilles Heel.

What a marvelous way to tighten the Vice, as the U.S. squirms and flails like a fish on a boat dock. I'm wondering - are they doing this on purpose? Because if they were, they succeeded.

The entire Repub party is sweating bullets right now. The entire thing is headed for a MELTDOWN. the American public wants to see some progress - and they're leaving for vacation? No wonder Cheney is there.

If they leave, it will destroy the occupation, in my opinion. THAT's how serious it is, is my opinion.

22. Yeah, the Iraq Parliament taking two months off will even bite into ...
... the 28%-ers. I look forward to seeing how many Republicans use it as a pivot point for their support of our continual occupation.
