U.S. Says Russia Can't Alter Missile Shield Plan
Source: Reuters

PARIS (Reuters) - Russia cannot alter a U.S. plan to set up a missile defense system in nearby Poland, a senior U.S. official said in an interview published on Wednesday that is likely to stoke Russia's anger over the project.

Washington has enraged Russia and unsettled some European allies with a plan to deploy 10 missile interceptors in Poland and radar in the Czech Republic which it says would help shield Europe from possible missile attack by nations such as Iran.

In an interview with French newspaper Le Monde, U.S. Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns said Russian fears were unjustified as the project was purely defensive and could not be modified to launch attack missiles.

"The Russians need to review their information. And understand that they are not part of NATO, so they are not in a position to modify this project," Burns was quoted as saying.

2. You know -
I'm beginning to think that the Crisis is going to hit the White House, and it's going to come from all corners. It'll be Iraq, Iran, the Kurds, American voters, GOP Senators telling Bush to shut his Pie Hole, Turkey unstable, Pakistan ready to blow, Afghanistan in a meltdown, China shipping us poison.

And we won't even mention N. Korea.

It's gonna hit 'em all at once, and they won't know what to do.

Stupid fools in the White House. They do not realize, Russia is drawing a line in the sand.

3. we're never going to be able....
....to afford social programs until we can control the bushcos' and their corporate allies....they perpetually generate the need for their own existance and that of the gluttonous military industrial complex they serve....

....they are the single greatest threat to a peaceful world....even if the world collapses around them, they don't care; they've already won....and we and the world have already lost....

4. Can't launch a pre-emptive strike?
Not only would the Russians think about a pre-emptive strike citing that same illegal justification used by western allies, they know damn well that no one in Europe is going to retaliate over US missiles in Poland and Czechoslovakia (neither of which the public in those countries wants anyway but OUR media never mentions so as to lend a perception that the public has no role except through the infrequent election cycles and donations)

-- so that really only leaves the US public to sit and stew over whether they want to launch WW3 over missiles that were never legitimate anyway.
