Militants kill Iraqi journalist in Baghdad
21 May 2007 10:52:07 GMT

BAGHDAD, May 21 (Reuters) - Militants kidnapped and killed a
journalist from one of Iraq's most popular national newspapers
in southern Baghdad on Sunday, his employers said on Monday.

Ali Khalil had become a father only a few days before he was
killed, they said. He was the 105th journalist to be killed in
Iraq since hostilities started four years ago.

Khalil, 21, worked for the Azzaman newspaper and had just left
a relative's home in the Bayaa district when militants kidnapped
him. His body was found a few hours later.

1. Gunmen kill 7 on bus headed to Baghdad
BAGHDAD - A group of gunmen in two cars attacked a minibus heading to Baghdad from a Shiite town north of the capital Monday, killing seven passengers including a child, police said. Meanwhile, thousands of soldiers continued their search for three comrades abducted in a May 12 ambush south of Baghdad. Four other U.S. soldiers and one Iraqi were killed.

The minibus attack underscored the sectarian violence and instability that continues to plague Diyala province north of Baghdad despite the three-month-old security crackdown in Baghdad and the surrounding areas.

The bus, which left the town of Khalis, was driving near the violence-wracked city of Baqouba, 35 miles northeast of Baghdad, about 11:30 a.m. when it was ambushed outside the town of Hibhib, police said.

In western Baghdad, a roadside bomb detonated near a group of Iraqi soldiers patrolling the Sunni-dominated Adil neighborhood, killing three of the soldiers and injuring two others.

2. Why didn't they just write a letter to the editor
and have it published in the op/ed section if they didn't like the spin or press coverage posted by the journalist?
