27. Senate roll call here
Edited on Thu May-24-07 09:30 PM by KamaAina
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=110&session=1&vote=00181

and here are the "Freedom Fourteen":

NAYs ---14
Boxer (D-CA)
Burr (R-NC)
Clinton (D-NY)
Coburn (R-OK)
Dodd (D-CT)
Enzi (R-WY)
Feingold (D-WI)
Kennedy (D-MA)
Kerry (D-MA)
Leahy (D-VT)
Obama (D-IL)
Sanders (I-VT)
Whitehouse (D-RI)
Wyden (D-OR)

How embarrassing that three repukes did the right thing (though I'm sure they were voting against the domestic spending, especially Coburn) and yet most of "our" Dems did not. :grr:

edit: perhaps the "Fearless Fourteen" might be a better moniker?

Edited on Thu May-24-07 10:27 PM by Pushed To The Left
but I'm very pleased with 3 of our contenders for the Presidency standing up for Democrats and voting No! I'm also proud of my Senator Barbara Boxer! She continues to show true leadership.

11. It was "safe" before a single vote was cast. The outcome was never in doubt.
They were two of 14 to oppose. Is that still not "pure" enough? Geesh...

18. Yup, a COMPLETE waste of time and money
No impeachment, no meaningful government reform, no fruitful investigations into the 50 or so IMPEACHABLE infractions by the executive branch, no invasion de-escalation.

What a fucking waste.

Sorry Dems, I'll never vote GOP, but I won't be voting D next year either. It accomplishes nothing

13. My God!
Only 14 voted 'NO'?????? I want to see the names of the Dem 'yes' votes. Clinton and Obama can forget me. They were a day late and a dollar short in order to ever get my support no matter how they finally ended up voting. They are both phonies and Obama has been touting his "I've been against the war from the beginning" crap. He should have stood up days ago.

Reid is already done as far as I'm concered. This is retarded. Tear giveemhellharry.com down like right NOW. No timeline? Even with the polls saying hey include something like a timeline? Whatever ...

ps - can it now be said that Reid "voted No before he voted Yes"?

Not as strong as I would have liked to have said, but it'll do for a warm-up. BTW, my neighbors are all outside shaking their heads about this travesty. No one can believe this passed...and my neighbors are REPUKES!!!!!

SHAME ON YOU!!!

I am so ashamed of you for voting for the war funding bill. You have lost sight of what and why the PEOPLE elected the dems last Nov. Shame shame shame. No more support for you ever and I can honestly say even my neighbors are appalled this vote passed when WE THE PEOPLE have told you over and over again to STOP THE WAR!

Best yet - 'oh we can't pay and we have to fund our soldiers....' Yeah, and I have a bridge in my back yard to sell you. Since when has this country NOT found a way to support our military? You didn't need to give lil boots a blank check and sign it over to KBR and Halliburton.

Well, just in case Dick forgets his manners - here is his personal thanks to YOU for continued rape and pillage of not only innocent Iraqi's, but our soldiers and MY GRANDCHILD'S future.

SHAME ON YOU!!!! SHAME!!!!

26. He's "right", this one time :)
They should be gloating. The dems caved and that's the ONLY way to look at this. Harry Reid should go at this point, a) because of this vote, and b) because he can't open his mouth without looking like a slow-talking dimwit.

I want my politicians to talk faster, omfg!

41. Not quite.
I don't believe that the Dems are really afraid of *. It's that stupid abandoning-the-troops meme.

The effect is the same, though, and now we Dems own the war, too. Sucks, doesn't it, that we elected such idiots/whores?

34. Footnote: The roll call lists Traitor Joe as (ID-CT)
on the Yea (cave-in) side, obviously. :eyes: I assume that's for "Independent Democrat". :eyes: What the fsck is that about? Bernie Sanders, one of the Fearless Fourteen :yourock: , is listed as (I-VT), yet he, too, caucuses with the Dems (and is MUCH less of a flight risk!)

37. What do we need to do to have a recall election for the spineless?
Seriously. How does something like that get started? My congresscritters were 2/3 on this with only Kohl jumping up and down about how proud he was to vote yes since he tacked on a pet project (a good pet project--funding for senior citizen healthcare in WI, but didn't belong in this melee).

I want to start a recall election for him in this state. I think we all should consider the same in our respective states. It "worked" for Grey Davis. It can work for the rest of them. We get a recall election started with a runoff election with a true Progressive Dem who cares about the troops and the fate of our country and be done with it.

I've had it with Kohl. He is not a good Dem.

Recall elections across the board. Then have an "instant runoff" type thing and have a chance of getting someone in there who will listen to constituents.
