Boren calls for Gonzales to resign

~snip~ Rep. Dan Boren, D-Okla., said Gonzales has not “adequately answered the questions posed by Congress or the American people” regarding the firing of eight U.S. attorneys.

“I have lost faith in his ability to lead the Department of Justice in the fair and independent manner in which it should operate,” Boren said.

Boren has signed on to legislation that expresses no confidence in the performance of Gonzales and urges President Bush, who continues to stand behind the embattled attorney general, to request his resignation.

“As the story behind the firings of the U.S. attorneys continues to unfold, it is increasingly clear that the situation has been mismanaged from the start,” Boren said. “The attorney general’s statements have been inconsistent at best.” ~snip~
