Gas Prices Drop a Penny
Edited on Tue May-29-07 08:10 PM by RamboLiberal
Source: ABC News

For the first time in more than a month there is some -- OK, a very, very little amount of -- good news this week for motorists: Gas prices have fallen a penny per gallon.

The average gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is now going for $3.21, according to a weekly government report on retail gas prices released by the Energy Information Administration.

This is the first time in five weeks that prices have moved lower.

Even with the downward move this week, prices are still 12 percent higher than they were during the same period a year ago when motorists were paying $2.87 at the pump. Overall, prices rose $1.04, or 46 percent, during an unprecedented 17-week run-up in retail prices.

On edit - oil dropped $2 a barrel and we get a whole friggin' penny! Whoopee!

Oil prices plunged by more than $2 a barrel Tuesday on hopes that the inauguration of a new president in OPEC member Nigeria would contribute to a stable supply from the Niger Delta region.

A formal meeting over the weekend between U.S. and Iran officials also soothed traders' concerns about a potential conflict between the two.

Light, sweet crude for July delivery dropped $2.35 to $62.85 a barrel in afternoon trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Before the long weekend, U.S. crude oil climbed more than $1 to $65.20 Friday. Monday there was no floor trade and no closing price in the U.S. because of the Memorial Day holiday.

Brent futures for July lost $1.80 to $67.91 a barrel on London's ICE Futures exchange.

18. That's right, I'll just stop driving to work
I'm tired of hearing we need to drive less. If we want to go to work and buy groceries, we HAVE to drive. Too many of us live in these sprawling sidewalk-free suburbs and have no choice.

10. Gas prices at a record high, demand is up over a year ago.
So, what's the deal? That sends a clear message to the oil companies: the addicts need their drug and will pay what they must to get it. Here in western Wisconsin, gas prices dropped 5 cents last week to $3.29.

16. the temp on the gas price is now set permanently to 3 bucks.
Edited on Tue May-29-07 11:07 PM by Javaman
that's what this last round was all about.

Last time it was to see if we could deal with 2.50.

Before that it was 2.00

they are now going to skip right over 3.50 and go right to 4.

When the temp on the gas stove gets to 4 bucks what will you do?

When the temp on the gas stove gets to 5 bucks what will you do?

When the temp on the gas stove gets to 10 bucks what will you do?

Will you continue to drive that SUV? Will you be by yourself behind the wheel? Will you stop working? will you stop eating?

See you on the other side, my fellow travelers, the day of Americas driving spree is rapidly coming to a close.

How will you feed yourself? How will you support yourself? When the supermarkets are empty will you be able to grow your own food?

Do you know your neighbors? Do you talk to people? Do you know how to talk to people?

The twilight dawns, the curtains draw close, America the industrial might of the world, it's gears are slowing down.

Once upon a time, in a future not far off, will you know how to create fire without a match?

Do you require ice in order to drink anything?

To make ice we need to burn fuel.

Think about that next time.

Fire makes ice.
