U.S. terror expert says nuclear risk low
Source: AP

SINGAPORE - Terrorists have little chance of obtaining enough fissile material to make a nuclear bomb, but governments must remain on guard against the possibility, a top U.S. expert said Friday.

Only about 18 pounds of highly enriched uranium — far too little to make a nuclear device — is believed to have leaked into the global black market, said Mark Fitzpatrick, senior fellow for nonproliferation at the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies.

"This is the classic low-probability, high-consequence danger," he said.

Fitzgerald, the State Department's former deputy assistant secretary for nonproliferation, spoke to reporters ahead of the institute's annual meeting of defense chiefs and scholars in Singapore.

2. Nucular
Exactly true, Bush and the CIA would plant a 'dirty' bomb somewhere and detonate it
and blame the 'terrorists' and declare martial law.
The only way a nuke would get into anyone elses hands is if a country like Pakistan or
India let their guard down
I dont think these so called 'terrorists' have a science lab in their 'bat caves'......

3. Unless Bush LIHOP a terrorist nuke attack
I could envision * 'allowing' a terrorist group to get their hands on a low-yield nuclear device. That would be pretty much what he needs to "justify" cementing his hold on power, declaring martial law, suspending various parts of the Constitution, postponing elections, etc.
