US-India nuclear deal talks fail
Source: BBC

Indian Foreign Minister Shiv Shankar Menon said the two sides had made considerable progress, but that there were still gaps to be covered.

The BBC's Sanjoy Majumder in Delhi says the key sticking points were the issue of reprocessing spent nuclear fuel and carrying out more nuclear tests.

Washington is opposed to allowing India to undertake either, but the Indian government has said any restriction would be an infringement on its sovereignty.

India also wants the United States to guarantee its supply of nuclear fuel, our correspondent says.

3. I read in the news that
nuclear power plants in the U.S. are running on plutonium from de-milled Russian nuclear warheads. Let the Indians go trade their mangoes to Russian for reactor fuel.

5. As reality starts to slowly sink in....
The State Dept. advisors sit at the table in the Board Room. It's Washington, around 4:00 pm.

They look at each other, nervously. They have beads of sweat on their upper lips. Some have bloodshot eyes, sweat on their foreheads. A few have some sweat rings under their arms.

The hideous truth is seeping in. They are not making any headway with foreign relations. In fact, things are turning more and more dire with each passing day. Country after country is saying "F* You" to the United States.

It's a shocking situation. They've tried every means possible, even with India. They've tried the Arm-twisting method of extracting concessions. Didn't work, only with tiny poor Philippines. But with India? Forget it? They acted like they could have spit in their faces, that's how arrogant and cocky they were. The advisors were feeling desperate at one point.
What the hell to do?
Threats don't work any longer, nor do Carrot and Stick, cajoling, bribes, scare tactics. Nothing.
We're just fucked, aren't we State Department?

6. India is subject to water scarcity.
So, they can pout all they want, but at the end of the day, they are going to need to have healthy relations with the United States just like any other country. They need to get over themselves.
