Chinese hospitals used fake drips
Source: BBC

Chinese investigators say nearly 60 hospitals and pharmacies in north-eastern China have been using fake blood protein in patients' drips.

Albumin, or plasma protein, is used to treat patients suffering from shock and burns and during open-heart surgery.

Experts suggest that the fake product could be life-threatening for those already in a serious condition.

The scandal is the latest to expose weaknesses in China's regulation of food and drug standards.

When he scolded Clinton for making an issue of the Chinese government's actions at the time of Tiananmen Square. Maybe he was already helping his son make those plans with their bin Laden friends.

2. I keep wondering
how many of the pharmacuticals in the US use one or more ingredients imported from China. Unfortunately China has us by the short hairs regarding finances. The US CAN'T go and outlaw all ingestable imports from China.

We are screwn.

15. But we can vote with our pocketbook...I'm not taking any vitamin/supplements
Made in China. So far I haven't been able to determine if the ones I've been taking are Chinese. One company (Dr. Weil) hasn't responded, and Country Life said their Vitamin C were Imported from Japan, therefore very safe. I didn't get a response when I asked if any of the ingredients came from China. Since there is just one Western country with a Vitamin C factory outside of China, I doubt the the importer is going to any other country.

Eat locally and fresh. Support farmers' markets that have locally grown food instead of taking supplements of unknown origin.

Pot, meet kettle.
Here is what has really changed since 2001. . . our own FDA has been neutered.
DO NOT depend on the FDA to safeguard your food or drugs, or you may be taking your life in your hands.

If the Founders could have seen how corrupt our government would become, they'd probably would have stopped the Revolution midway and said, 'Why bother?'

27. That's crap. And incredibly condescending, if not outright racist.

The Chinese population is no more or less corrupt than anywhere else.
How much death and garbage does the amurikan 'population' export?!

Short cuts are taken everywhere to boost profit, wheverever businesses and politicians feel they can get away with it.
We are all in the same boat here folks. We are all gonna sink together at this rate.

8. China is hosting the 2008 Olympics.
Prediction: China wins the gold, silver and bronze medals in every event. All other athletes keel over from poisoned food or drugs. If I was an Olympic athlete, I'd stay home, especially if I lived in a country that cared about keeping its citizens alive.

Edited on Mon Jun-11-07 04:24 PM by woodsprite
After all our own gov't is trying very hard to beat China at their own game, so they don't care about keeping people alive. Well, except fetus'. But after they're born, that effort goes out the window.

19. You're right.
The US hasn't quite caught up with China, yet. There are lots of other countries that care about the health of their citizens. I suggest that they keep their athletes safely in their home countries.

20. Ugh Remember Polyheme?
China is doing what american ER's are doing..already.

It reads like a bad science fiction novel: A small Illinois biotech company cuts a deal with UCSD. The university agrees to test a substitute for human blood on comatose patients -- victims of gunshots and car crashes -- without the patients' consent. Within the city of San Diego, the experiment is targeted at several neighborhoods south of I-8, where many poor and minority residents are unlikely to have heard of the study and unlikelier still to have the resources to sue if something goes awry. The university conceals the identity of the city's paramedic units who carry the blood substitute.

23. Watch closely, for this is the future of Amerika: Totalitarian BushPutinism
To be fair, the Chinese have been governed by a primitive proto-BushPtuinism before Soulmates Bush and Putin decide to go a Fourth Way, so perhaps they deserve some of the credit for this new Totalitarianism.

Let us suffer any kind of widescale economic depression (that can no longer be covered up by lies and a complicit MSM) or -God Forbid- LIHOP/MIHOP Nuclear 9/11: The Shadow Govt. takes over, and we will see this and so much more.
