Gulf Arabs won't be base for attack on Iran: Saudi

Sunday, June 17, 2007; 3:36 AM

RIYADH (Reuters) - Gulf Arab countries will not be used
as a launch pad for any military attack on Iran, a powerful
Saudi royal was quoted as saying on Sunday.

Saudi Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdul-Aziz said
Iran had no interest in striking its oil-producing Arab
neighbors if it comes under attack from the United States.

"I think the brothers in Iran are totally aware that ...
Iran will not be a source of harm for their neighbors and
brothers ... These countries (Arab neighbors) will not be
a source of harm for Iran," he said in remarks late on
Saturday carried by state news agency SPA.

"Respect and consideration are mutual. I speak for the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (relations) with Iran and for the
Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)," he added, referring to
Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and
Oman.

1. I don't believe it for a second.
Besides which, they helped facilitate the US setting up shop on their frontier in Iraq, so they bear moral responsibility for any future attack from there.

2. ..and the boy continues to cry "WOLF"
this is the 3rd June that the MSM experts have been predicting invasion. At least they dropped the month of invasion in the current rash of articles.
Saudis are glad they can breath easier now that the Gaza issue is putting more focus back on the eternal enemy.

...wonder how the recent cease fire in Yemen plays into the current Gaza situation ....just to fuel a tin foil conspiracy. Will these "fighters" be paid to take a leave of absence from Yemen and travel to other areas?
Details of the deal are sketchy that was brokered by Qatari officials

Yemen ceasefire holds with Shiite rebels
SANAA (AFP) - A ceasefire was holding in Yemen on Sunday after Shiite rebels agreed to lay down their arms, ending years of fierce fighting that has killed thousands in one of the world's poorest countries

Yemen fighters accept ceasefire

The fighters oppose Yemen's alliance with the US and the government says it wants to impose religious laws.

Anti-government fighters in Yemen have accepted a government ceasefire deal to end months of violent clashes that killed hundreds in the north of the country.

number of fighters have been captured and imprisoned by the Yemeni government

Saudi Arabia does border their Sunni dominated neighbor of Yemen so a cease fire also covers their own flank from any flare up or spreading of hostilities.
Have to dig deep to find any in depth reports of peace deals in Yemen to be covered in our MSM. I doubt it they can be found as few readers in the west feel any side show stories out of the ME fringes have impacts or reactions to other areas.

on a related side note,
Saudis would send their own "problem citizens" off to Iraq in the hopes somebody else does them in and yet...the Saudi citizen is awarded their 72 virgins in the afterlife . A win / win situation ! Still what win / win situation was offerred to the Shia fighters of Yeman ?

jihad ?
