Police nab 700 in global pedophile ring (rescued 31 children)

LONDON - Police smashed a global Internet pedophile ring, rescuing 31 children and rounding up more than 700 suspects worldwide, authorities said Monday.

Some 200 suspects are based in Britain, the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Center said. The ring was traced to an Internet chat room called "Kids the Light of Our Lives" that featured images of children being subjected to horrific sexual abuse.

The investigation involves agencies from 35 countries and lasted 10 months.

The host of the Web site, Timothy David Martyn Cox, 27, of Buxhall, who used the online identity "Son of God," admitted to nine counts of possessing and distributing indecent images, authorities said.

I know it won't happen but I believe that everyone found guilty in this case should be put to death.

British authorities would not break down where the other suspects or children came from. A Canadian official said 24 Canadians were arrested and seven children rescued, but added that the time period was longer than the more than 10 months the British said their portion of the investigation lasted. U.S. officials declined to comment because their investigation is continuing.

The ring was traced to an Internet chat room called "Kids the Light of Our Lives" that featured images of children being subjected to horrific sexual abuse — including streaming live videos.

The News of the World is a tabloid newspaper (the biggest selling Sunday paper in Britain, I think) who wanted a "Megan's Law" in Britain. Luckily, the government didn't bow to the pressure.

This is law enforcement I can fully support. I'm glad they got some of the kids out -- you know there are others out there, but I'm glad for the 31.

Truly revolting. The only case I ever had where the three-judge court of appeals panel was visibly disturbed by the facts. There was one victim and multiple offenses. He plead guilty to several counts of a lesser-included offense because the victim was too young and too traumatized to testify. The court gave maximum, consecutive sentences resulting in 85 years in prison. Ohio does not give time off for good behavior.

The child rape videos. I don't believe in thought crimes - ie looking at a picture and going to jail for it, but it sure is tempting to believe in punnishment for them under circumstances like this.

What's odd is how many thousands of people were visiting that site. You'd have thought the authorities would have shut it down sooner. Instead they made a 2 year investigation of it.

Regardless, though, there's thousands more out there, this is merely the tip of the ice berg. I want to see the fuckers at the top go down. Well, I want to see them all go down. But, starting from the top is a good idea for me.

I'm not in favor of killing them, no, that's much too kind. I believe they should be neutered (or spade) and spend their lives in the deepest, darkest dungeons we can find for them. It's not their blood I want, it's their suffering. No amount of blood will make amends for what's been done to these children, they will live with nightmares, most likely, the rest of their lives. Many will develop PTSD as a result, many will be terrified of sex.
