U.S. soldier killed in IED attack

BAGHDAD (CNN) -- A U.S. soldier was killed by an IED attack in southern Baghdad, the military said Monday.

The soldier's name was not immediately released, pending notification of next-of-kin.

"Elements of this unit have conducted numerous patrols and raids in Baghdad this past month. These operations have netted 12 weapons caches and several arrests in an effort to provide a more secure environment for Iraqi citizens," the U.S. military said in a news release announcing the death.

3. Diplomatic Crisis

So if the Iraqi congress goes on vacation as scheduled, George Bush is going to have to miss his....even Karl Rove is having a hard time explaining how the Congress of Iraq AND the President of the Free World are both on vacation in the middle of a war. Rove is used to explaining one or the other, but not both at the same time.
