Exclusive: Suicide Bomb Teams Sent to U.S., Europe
Source: ABC News

Large teams of newly trained suicide bombers are being sent to the United States and Europe, according to evidence contained on a new videotape obtained by the Blotter on ABCNews.com.

Teams assigned to carry out attacks in the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Germany were introduced at an al Qaeda/Taliban training camp graduation ceremony held June 9.

A Pakistani journalist was invited to attend and take pictures as some 300 recruits, including boys as young as 12, were supposedly sent off on their suicide missions.

---

U.S. intelligence officials described the event as another example of "an aggressive and sophisticated propaganda campaign."

BTW article states that ABC News Consultant Richard Clarke does take this seriously. Personally I've always wondered why this hasn't happened yet, IMHO it would be a way to put some in the U.S. in a panic. My biggest fear would be about how the Bush, Cheney, Gonzo and the neocons would use this to further their talking points and agenda.

Seriously, sometimes I wonder how the fear mongers explain the restraint thus far of the murderous hordes set against us. It's not like bush hasn't sent out a great big ol' neon invitation for another attack. In fact, it would be answered prayer to state GOP chairs everywhere. And, depending on the target, would delight Coulter and Bill O no end.

I had hoped that a Democratic Congress might signal hope abroad for change, as well as increasing sensible security measures. Pelosi's trip was swell but now I'm afraid that all horrible headlines about how dems caved to bush on war funding was the louder message.

18. OK, I Googled "how to spot a suicide bomber"
This from the Telegraph:

He's a young man, sweating profusely, looking around furtively, carrying a rucksack or wearing bulky clothing. He might be from an ethnic minority - but not necessarily. This, according to security specialists, is the most likely profile of a suicide bomber.

Experts contacted by The Sunday Telegraph say that a potential bomber may lick his lips, appear nervous and have shaved all his body. He may be wearing clothing inappropriate for the weather and be thrusting his hands into his pockets. If he is carrying a bag, he may be checking it. He may also wear a baseball cap or other headwear that would obscure his face from closed circuit television.

These descriptions were given in response to questions about how the public should recognise a suicide bomber while travelling on public transport. But while officials and experts agreed on basic details on the appearance of suicide bombers, most disagreed on how to respond if the public found one. "Speak up and advise fellow passengers," the British Transport Police advised. "If you see someone doing something very dramatic, the train is moving and you can't consult staff, then tell your fellow passengers, speak up."

However, Will Geddes, the managing director of the International Corporate Protection Group, which provides security advice, said: "Do not, in any circumstances, speak out. Your actions have to be responsible. If you shout, 'It's a bomb', you will panic him into setting it off."

I have a strong gut feeling that we are in for an attack on the west sometime in the near future.
I really hope I'm wrong here, but emotions are running very high right now everywhere, particularly in the ME. And with that Rushdi honor having been given out just recently in the UK, I think trouble might be brewing big time.

I would think that foreign embassies are on even more of a high alert than ususal right now. Maybe this is all just media propaganda, but you ever know.

Guess they ought to change the terrorism meter to panic red?

62. Really?
But he was wrong about Al-Shifa plant and how he believed that AQ and Hussein were making VX gas there...in fact Dickie Clark has been telling folks that America is going to be attacked since the Reagan era...

He's a broken record and no I don't believe his grasp on intel is any more honest than Powell, Tenet, Berger, O'Neill or the rest especially when the kool-aid drinker was stating horseshit like:
"Iran is the No. 1 world sponsor of terrorism" or his belief that AQ and Iran are working together. Only in the deluded diseased minds of US Christo-Fascists who have killed nearly a million people in illegal genocidal war for oil and control could those two be placed in the same narrative

He's a neo-con hack who fooled some Ds because he OMG! criticized the Bush Administration in a ass-covering gesture where he just as easily 'sexed-up' the lunacy of US intel as much as Rummy.

In other words, he's an idiot and propagandist.

46. I don't know. Just thinking in general we in the USA have had very little bombings
Timothy McVeigh was a big one, but we haven't had bombings like many many places in the world. Visiting France I notice public waste receptacles are clear plastic bags because they had a problem with people blowing up garbage cans. We have had it pretty easy here as far as people blowing each other up, for quite a while.

47. Report: Chechen Terrorists Entered US in July (10.13.2004)
Bill Gertz passes along some scary news; an intelligence report that a group of Chechen terrorists entered the US through the Arizona-Mexico border: Chechen terrorists probed.

U.S. security officials are investigating a recent intelligence report that a group of 25 Chechen terrorists illegally entered the United States from Mexico in July.

The Chechen group is suspected of having links to Islamist terrorists seeking to separate the southern enclave of Chechnya from Russia, according to officials familiar with intelligence reports.

Members of the group, said to be wearing backpacks, secretly traveled to northern Mexico and crossed into a mountainous part of Arizona that is difficult for U.S. border security agents to monitor, said officials speaking on the condition of anonymity.

51. perfectly predictable...
if you accept that all cultures and peoples are essentially similar, then what would our reaction to foreign occupation be? First, we would be shocked, then we would fight like hell. Then, once the frailties of the occupier became clear, good sense would unfailingly result in the desire to transfer the fight from our own backyard to his. In other words...the longer we fight our enemies (illusory or otherwise) on their own home territories, the more likely they are to strike us here. A sad prediction, given the great vulnerability of our peace here, but so goes history, so goes human nature.

WHATEVER a terrorist does in this country now has to top 9/11 or be judged a messy flop. They were TOO successful with the towers. It isn't Bush that has prevented a recurrence, it's the difficulty of topping their previous success. And they HAVE to top it.

Because otherwise Americans won't be afraid, we'll be CONTEMPTUOUS.

60. I disagree - Remember the panic and coverage the DC snipers
created. IMHO you get some suicide bombers setting themselves off in malls, subway stations, city buses, restaurants, etc., they'd get media attention, breathless coverage, and some fear on some parts of the populace.

I do think some here on DU are naïve pooh-poohing that it could happen in the U.S. Certainly Israel and Europe have had to deal with either bomb or suicide attacks. I'm not saying that this intelligence at this time is true, but it has always puzzled me why OBL and AQ haven't tried this in the U.S.

68. There's an easy answer for this bit ...
> it has always puzzled me why OBL and AQ haven't tried this in the U.S.

Simply because the purse-holders, the organisations & countries behind
most of the "terrorist" attacks around the world daren't risk kicking
the hornet's nest.

The only country who is in a position to do that is Saudi Arabia as they
have the US administration (and the US population) by the short & curlies.

Strangely enough, there has only been one US terrorist event involving
foreigners recently and that one incident has very strong ties to Saudi
Arabia. Aren't coincidences wonderful? Or maybe they just prove my point.

58. Well we clearly need our troops at home then. We've apparently
lost the war on terror that we were fighting before it reached our own lands.

Somehow I have a feeling the repukes are not going to see it that way though and are going to believe the fucking fuhrers propaganda.

63.  Anything is possible
Some may feel these things are a joke , has we been told on sept 10 2001 two jets were going to be flown into the trade towers at the time we may have reacted the same way .

I don;t find it funny , I find these sorts of things to cause at least some concern even if it came off ABC .

I also don't feel once in america it would be difficult to produce whatever weapons they need , this is the country of all sorts of bombs and bullets and crap .

Bush and condi both gave themselves an out by saying we are safer but not safe yet .

I am not going to sit here in fear but if something did happen what about the people who may get killed . I just don;t find these things a laughing matter .
