Power outage affects New York City
Source: reuters

"NEW YORK (Reuters) - A power outage affected parts of Manhattan's Upper East Side on Wednesday, partially shutting down subway service, officials and witnesses said.

"Power utility Con Edison said it was evaluating reports of lost service, and the transportation authority said at least three subway lines were down on what a spokeswoman called a power dip."

3. Yeah, I'm one of them -- but I heard the juice is back on -- at least at my apt.
We've been powered-down all day at work.... I hope we're not in for it tonight. Looks like I'm walking home, though. The last thing I want to do is get stuck in a subway tunnel with in a crowded subway car with a few people whose deodorant is wearing off.

4. It's a drag when the power goes out, but it does illustrate one Bush fallacy...
I remember when the entire city of New York blacked out, about four summers ago... the whole eastern seaboard went dark, and power outages reached as far as Michigan. I'm sure that most everybody remembers that (the 'grid failure')

Well what better time could there be, if terrorists were around every corner, waiting to attack us?

In fact, no attacks ever happen during these blackouts. The risk of terrorism is real but contrary to what Bush and Cheney would have you believe, there are not thousands of terrorist operatives waiting in the wings, for a chance to attack.

In other words, like most of us recognize, the terrorism threat is overblown by Bush as a way of tweaking public opinion.

6. Is aging Infrastructure Slowing the U.S.?
Wonder if it has anything to do with this article out in today's Herald Tribune:

7. Con Edison sucks ass. My fiance dealt with NO POWER last summer in NYC. Worst week ever!
We couldn't sleep for those nights were 90+, and in his tiny apartment, that means it's nearly suffocatingly hot...
