Qaeda's Zawahri threatens more attacks in UK - tape
Source: Reuters

DUBAI, July 10 (Reuters) - Al Qaeda's second-in-command, Ayman al-Zawahri, on Tueasday threatened more attacks on Britain two weeks after failed bombings in London and Glasgow.

"I say to (Former British Prime Minister Tony) Blair's successor that the policy of your predecessor drew catastrophes in Afghanistan and Iraq and even in the centre of London," he said in a tape posted on a Web site used by al Qaeda-linked groups.

"If you did not learn the lesson then we are ready to repeat it, God willing, until we are sure you have fully understood."

1. I thought he was dead. Is he the number one or the number two that is now number one?
Edited on Tue Jul-10-07 11:22 AM by xultar
Or was he the number three that became number one cuz we got number two & number one?

I remember when they said they'd killed him once, no twice, no...I think it was about four times back and said that the number one had been killed and then they were gonna go after the old two which is now the new one and the new three which was the old number four and is now the new number three soon too be the new number two if they get the new number one.

al-Qaida Threatens UK Over Rushdie Honor

Tuesday July 10, 2007 4:46 PM

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - Al-Qaida's No. 2 issued a new audiotape
on Tuesday threatening to retaliate against Britain for having
honored the novelist Salman Rushdie, a U.S.-based monitoring
group said.

Ayman al-Zawahri's 20 minute speech was entitled “Malicious
Britain and its Indian Slaves.” It was produced by as-Sahab,
the multimedia wing of al-Qaida, to be distributed to extremist
Web sites, said the U.S.-based SITE, which monitors al-Qaida
messages.

The authenticity of the tape, also reported by Alexandria,
Va.-based IntelCenter, could not be independently confirmed.

A “very precise response” is in preparation to retaliate against
this offense, al-Zawahri was quoted as saying by SITE.

3. I could not care less about what Al Quaida think of Salman Rushdie
Much as I don't think he's worthy of a knighthood it's none of Al-Quaida's business who this country chooses to enoble.

4. Ah, the absolute ultimate in religious right-wing nuttery
I am sure Britain has no intention of allowing the crazy fundies of any religion to dictate our internal policies. Nor should it.
