Brownback to hit trail with Terri Schiavo's brother
Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Republican presidential hopeful Sam Brownback is embarking on a campaign trip with the brother of the late Terri Schiavo, whose fate touched off a political firestorm over government intervention and end-of-life issues.

The Kansas senator is less well-known than leading GOP candidates for president, but he is a favorite of anti-abortion conservatives who influence Iowa's nominating caucuses. Brownback is calling the tour "Pro-Life, Whole-Life."

He is traveling this weekend in Iowa with Bobby Schindler, Schiavo's brother, and Francis Bok, an escaped slave from Sudan.

Schiavo, who was in a permanent vegetative state since 1990, died in 2005 after her feeding tube was removed by court order.

4. Whole Life???
On a scale from 1 - 10 Terri Schiavo was about a 1.5 on the Whole life scale.

What does Brownback propose? Using the National Guard to insert feeding tubes in essentially brain dead people so that can have a whole life?

6. I wonder what Brownback's wife would do if he was in the same condition
as Terry Schiavo?

Do the Brownback's have a living will?

7. Brownback may be a loon, but at least he's a consistent one.
No way in hell he ever becomes President (thankfully), but his actions are in stark contrast with all of the other GOP candidates jumping up and down to move away from positions they took as recently as last year.

12. I was thinking the same thing
He's a nut, but he's consistent and apparently sincere in his crazy-ass beliefs. But damn I'd give just about anything to get him out of office here in KS.

8. Nice strategy
He must be going for the ultra-conservative pandering vote. This is pretty intense.
