Secretary of State Rice postpones trip to Israel, Palestinian areas

The Associated Press
Published: July 12, 2007

JERUSALEM: U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has postponed her trip to Israel and the Palestinian areas, set for next week, an official from the U.S. Embassy said Thursday, just three days after it was announced.

Embassy spokesman Stewart Tuttle said the trip would probably be rescheduled for August. He did not give a reason for the postponement.

Rice was due to meet with Israeli and Palestinian officials to discuss ways to restart peace talks and prop up moderate Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who is in a power struggle with the Islamic Hamas.

Hmmmm...Increase in al-Qaeda numbers and Rice suddenly stays off of planes...

Kind of reminds me of waaaaaaaaay back in the old days, and the summer of 2001, when John "Let The Eagles Soar" Ashcroft suddenly declined to go on planes... hmmmmmm....

12. It makes me wonder.
Maybe there has been a real shift on Middle East policy and Condi is being left at the curb.

Tony Blair is the new envoy in the region and the British may be indicating a change in policy.

Maybe the "adults" are taking charge in the Israeli/Palestinian issue and leaving little Lord Pissypants cooling his heels.

I find it hard to believe that many in the Middle East find Bush's foreign policy that appealing.
