"The Defense Energy Support Center, which buys fuel for the military throughout the world, will supervise the replacement of Halliburton and the award of a new contract for the imports, the center said Tuesday."

Good News for the end of the year!

3. You should be happy Halliburton is losing money.
Actually, they are losing because of other silliness on other things. I'd hate to own any of their stock.

On the other hand, they seem to be ekeing out a profit in Iraq. But my savings account gets a better return on net profit! with less risk. They are lousy war profiteers.

4. Think a little more critically
think Enron and special purpose entities which are owned by the principals of H* but not reported on their financial statement.

5. Not with everybody's eyes on them. Like ours.
High costs are still high costs. When you go do business half way across the world your costs go up FAST. Especially in a hostile environment. If Iraq ain't hostile, I don't know what is. Funny, but they should have charged more. Probably thought they were going to double their money JUST because they had a no-bid contract. they wre wrong.

When I do business just 70 miles away, my costs double and I have to charge twice as much. That's why I never get that business. I can't compete. Even I can probably do the job better and faster.

the Haliburton contracts completely. Lets not forget the fact that Haliburton was charging double that of other oil importers, and lets not forget the 67 million dollar "overbilling" of dining halls in Iraq (has that been repayed and was it really an "oversight"?)The very fact that Haliburton got the contracts in the first place shows favoritism and how the Bush administration is concerned more about corporate interests and political favors than the American citizen. Opening the contracts to outside bidders would save the American taxpayer billions of dollars, after all, its US thats footing the bill. If Haliburton can't compete because its half way around the world, then they need to pull themselves out of the bidding and quit reaming the American Taxpayer for the benefit of those in the current administration.
