Gunman in Capitol shooting identified (32 y/o, lived with parents, "not well")
Edited on Tue Jul-17-07 08:15 AM by BleedingHeartPatriot
Source: 9 news, Denver, Colorado

A next-door neighbor, who has lived next to Snyder's family for nearly 10 years, says he worked with an engineering firm and moved in with his parents several years ago.

She says, for the most part, Snyder was a good guy, but says that with some hesitation, adding that he was not well.

A woman in Northglenn who works at Mr. Neat's Formal Wear rented a tuxedo to a man believed to be the gunman hours before he was killed.

The employee, Tobie Locke, says the man was armed when he came into the Mr. Neat's Formal Wear at 10620 Melody Drive in Northglenn at about 10 a.m.

1. Interesting...
The gunman has better lines than television cop show writers. He should have done that instead of being a nut bar and living it.

3. This is so sad. I assume the neighbors meant he was having
psychiatric problems. That poor man. My heart aches for him and his parents.

4. How very SAD, no one on the cable snooze networks are covering this...
I checked around just long enough to see what leads at the top of the hour and nothing. Zip, Nada, Zero reporting.

I guess the assassination attempt of a US Governor is NOT news worthy.

5. We all know why.
It's a Democrat. This could have been an awful shooting, and a governor could have been killed. Oh no, that's not important to talk about on national TV.

6. Governor Ritter is the former Denver District Attorney.
News reports say that after the shooting, he went into D.A. mode and took charge. He walked around the capitol and told the tourists, who were now potential witnesses, not to talk to each other about the crime.

It's kinda cool -- I think - to have a pro-active governor, instead of one who would be led by state troopers into hiding place.

8. Why didn't the tux store owner call the police?
There was clearly a crazy man in posession of a gun in her store.

She really should have reported him while he was there waiting for the alteration. I would have.

10. Well, she might have been scared to report him while he was
there because he had a gun. She did file a police report after he left.

11. weird...
From the article:'

snip

"Snyder was a white man with no criminal record, though he's had numerous traffic violations."

snip

Am I the only one that finds that sentence a bit strange? What's Ms Woodward trying to say? I guess the fact that not only did Snyder have a clean criminal record, but he was also white should come as a surprise? I guess I could be reading too much into it.

Anyway, my heart goes out to his family, this has got to be hard for them.

12. From Denver papers
Aaron Richard Snyder, the man killed Monday at the Capitol, had been diagnosed as delusional and was under the care of a doctor, his mother told Northglenn police.

When Northglenn police got a report Monday from a Mister Neat's store about a suspicious man who rented a tuxedo, they began an investigation. They spoke with Snyder's mother, Kathie Snyder, early Monday afternoon.

Kathie Snyder told officers, according to the police report, that her son had been diagnosed as delusional by a Littleton doctor and was getting treatment.

----

He sent an e-mail to all employees of the company at 8:25 a.m. the day he died, according to Rita Davis, Fort Collins police spokeswoman.

"Thank you very much for hiring me. I have not properly identified myself. I am the emperor, the sovereign rule of this nation. God has bestowed this honor on me. Today is the appointed day in which God has chosen for me to begin my reign. I have decided to favour (sic) Advanced Energies as a company. Please keep the Emperor's desk free for my use in R and D purposes when I have spare time. I take engineering very seriously. With love in Jesus Christ, signed Aaron Aurelius Ricardus Constantinus."

Three months before his fatal mission at the Capitol, Aaron Snyder legally purchased a Smith & Wesson handgun from Sportsman's Warehouse in Thornton.
Snyder passed the instant background check with flying colors, store manager Jason Perez said today. Perez reviewed the receipt after being contacted by ATF following yesterday's shooting.

"All we know is he purchased it from here," Perez said. "There were no red flags. Everything was legal. He was just like any other ordinary Joe that wants to purchase a gun for leisure or anything else they're doing."

A search of Colorado court records shows Snyder had a half dozen minor run-ins with the law between 1995 and 1997, all of them traffic-related.

13. Uh, his name indicates he's one of those bloodline nuts.
Edited on Tue Jul-17-07 07:30 PM by superconnected
those people like a friend of mine who congregate on internet and insist they are from the plantagenet family or some other line that had many kings(my friend is a plantangent) and that they are the true rulers chosen by god and they are also of the bloodline decended from Christ.

This REEKS of someone who fell into that.

My friend whos bloodline makes her a "princess" (by some pretty creative geometry) went off to england to marry a "prince" last December. He was also a knights templar so he said.... naturally she came back and declared the man insane. She's back to internet trying to find someone of worthy bloodline to marry again.

From the guys new name, he's one of them. They all do that from what I can tell - decide smth like that would be a derrivitive of their name so decide it's really their true name, and then adopt the name of the bloodline they fall into as their last name.

Below - typical post from one of them - I just googled this one for the first time...
