9. If they break for August, they return 9/15 I believe. FY ends 9/30,
so it appears there may be no money for the war.

I'm still not entirely clear, watching Geiger and MSNBC site for more, but slow going.

6. That's a damned good thing...
thanks, Harry. Now, don't back down. Don't bring the bill back up until the 60 vote requirement on amendments are pulled. No funds. No war.

7. That puts the kibosh on the funding, right? And if they break for August,
Edited on Wed Jul-18-07 02:44 PM by blondeatlast
they likely won't meet the deadline. FY ends 9/30, if I'm not mistaken.

No money, no war.

I like the sound of that.

20. Smell the hypocrisy!
It seems that the GOP was all up in arms when we threatened to fillibuster the SCOTUS nominations. Now they just fillibustered the war spending bill. The only difference is that now they're in the minority, and used fillibuster in the same way we intended to use it, to kill a different vote.
In other words, there is essentially no difference at all.

Washington - Republicans in the US Senate on Wednesday blocked a Democratic measure which would have required President George W Bush to pull most combat troops out of Iraq by the end of April 2008.

After a marathon all-night debate, the Republican vote held firm, despite several party senators expressing unease over the war plan after the president rejected changes in Iraq strategy until September at the earliest.

The Senate voted by 52 to 47 to move to a final vote on the measure, well short of the 60-vote super majority needed for the bill to proceed. .....
