Two US lawmakers face corruption probe
Source: Raw Story

Two senior Republican lawmakers are reportedly under criminal investigation for alleged corruption linked to an Alaska oil services company.Federal authorities are looking into whether Representative Don Young or Senator Ted Stevens accepted bribes, illegal gratuities or unreported gifts from VECO Corp., an oil field engineering firm in Alaska. The two lawmakers are the latest to come under federal investigation after a series of corruption probes in recent years that sent two members of Congress to prison and resulted in a bribery indictment of another lawmaker.

3. Stevens deserves
exactly what he gets. The fuckwit supports censorship, regularly explodes, Dean-like, on the floor of the Senate, and groused about Katrina relief being "political gimmickry" at the same time he was trying to get $200 million for Alaska's infamously proposed-pork bridge to nowhere.

Maybe he'll blow a blood vessel one of these days when he gets all pissy!

5. Nobody hopes to see indictments come down against these two
as badly as many Alaskans do. This state is a fully-owned subsidiary of Big Oil and it's co-conspirators, like VECO. When Bill Allen (CEO & Chairman of the Board of VECO), and his crony Rick Smith were convicted of bribery and conspiracy charges in May, I literally danced for joy. However, Allen's daughter, who is just as sleazy, took his place as Chairman, so the corruption will undoubtedly continue. (see ADN, http://www.adn.com/news/politics/fbi/story/8874780p-8775188c.html and http://www.adn.com/news/politics/fbi/story/8863305p-8765776c.html).

Of course, Uncle Ted of the Hulk necktie fame, will probably slither out of it; he has way too much money and way too many equally corrupt buddies.

Until Big Oil goes away, I don't hold out much hope for our poor state.
