"SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - The families of the Crandall Canyon miner's aren't the only ones raising questions about the handling of the rescue effort.

Many news organizations and blogs are also now asking questions about the governments role and the man chosen to lead the rescue effort, Mine and Health Safety Administrator, Richard Stickler.

Sunday, the questions that had been whispered about for days, the miner's families themselves finally made public.

Sonny Olsen, families spokesperson said, "We are at the mercy of the officials in charge and their so-called experts."

FINALLY!!!!

Someone in the media is starting to ask the pertinent questions about mine safety instead of trying to write the next Hallmark Hall of Fame Made for TV Movie starring Robert Duval as Murray. This is an issue near and dear to my heart, as my Grandfather toiled in the mines of Corning, OH and later died of "black-lung". It does matter who is elected Pretzledent! Would Gore or Kerry have appointed this guy???

1. Anybody nominated or appointed by the Bush Administration

can't possibly be qualified for the job.

From the very top on down.

3. Richard Stickler was a recess appointment
back in Aug, 2006. Not sure why he's still there after the new Congress was seated in January 2007....

btw: lest we forget- here's a thread about Stickler, the Sago mine including an image of guess who? Brownback supporter Murray.

Can someone please tell me why this man isn't in prison?

4. I believe we can thank Mr. Olbermann for bringing this to attention.
His "Countdown" report last week with this information is the only such report I've seen until this article. Why does the MSM not come forward with a story like this? Sometimes I'm not even sure it's covering for the Bushies; I think journalistic laziness is a significant part of it.

5. Well, who better to regulate mine safety than a lobbyist for the mining industry? I mean...
... not EVERYONE has experience with Arabian Horses, do they?

6. It's perplexing
and a bit "off-topic", but why the DEMs ever lost the reputation as the defender of the American Worker is "frustrating" to say the least. How many of our miners, auto-workers, manufacturing plant workers, waitresses and "the backbone of America" continue to vote against their own self interest???

It's too easy to say; "well, at least gays can't get married", but the Democratic Party lost it's way. Perhaps now we are finding it again.

Someone on here submiitted a great post the other day that said; "it seems like once every generation we have to relearn the lesson that our economy is supported by those on the bottom, not those on the top".

If you've ever seen a pyramid, you know that to be the truth, and yet, somehow, the Repubs in the "South" have become the "Party of the Average Worker" when we all know in reality, they are the Party of Management and the elite.
