Boston HeraldThe 10,000 union janitors who work in buildings throughout the Bay State announced yesterday that they have a tentative contract.
Officials from the Service Employees International Union, Local 615, say that they have reached an agreement between janitors and the Maintenance Contractors of New England.
“For all the women and men who clean bathrooms and pick up trash, we now have our dignity,” said Margaret Restrepo, a member of the bargaining committee, in a statement issued yesterday. “The agreement is an important step in achieving a New England that works for everyone.”
The agreement is pending ratification by the union’s membership.
