Iraq 'test case' in terror fight, Blair tells troops

BASRA, Iraq (AP) — The invasion of Iraq was a test case in the global fight against terror, British Prime Minister Tony Blair said today while making a surprise visit to British troops.

Meanwhile, his top envoy in the country warned of bigger, more sophisticated attacks by the Iraqi resistance.

In Tikrit on Sunday, an American soldier was shot and wounded during a foot patrol, said Maj. Josslyn Aberle, a spokeswoman for the U.S. army's 4th Infantry Division. He was in stable condition, she added.

Blair, who faced strong opposition at home for supporting the U.S.-led invasion to oust Saddam Hussein, visited the southern city of Basra, the base for some 10,000 British troops, to thank the soldiers and meet with military commanders.

A test case, oh I get it! The US and the UK LIE about a country
harboring the so-called "WMDs", then LIES to the international
community...and then it starts an ILLEGAL war and INVADES a
sovereign country.
It "tested" to see whether: 1) Americans are stupid and will do
anything that their government tells them to do, 2) sees whether
any foreign country will call their bluff, 3) sees whether any
foreign country has the balls to stand in their way and 4) sees
whether anybody will protest about the pillaging of another
country's natural resources...
