7. Finish the sentence
Send pictures to........
Help police figure out whats going on???
Whats wrong with that?
Cell phones have been used many times to help police identify rapist's, muggers, armed robbers, etc.

27. I'm in Chico, about 20 miles from Oroville-glad it is over (I wonder if it was meth related)
In doing my research on meth I have learned that Butte County was NUMBER ONE per capita for meth lab busts

and last night learned that 80% of crime in Butte County is meth related

and here is a link to the meth lab busts in Butte County from 1999-2006, note how many are in Oroville.

30. Time to end this madness NOW!
I hope California, and the rest of the country finally comes to it's senses and outlaws every single firearm in the nation.

32. Yeah, cause somebody willing to break the laws against assault with a deadly weapon...
...would be absolutely unwilling to break a law against having that weapon in the first place.

What he did was already illegal, no?

9. So sad, such unrest in our country
What's with the young ones? Such anger. Do they feel trapped? Are they wannabees? Do they feel someone owes them something? Most likely they are kids that have "issues" that no one is recogizing and helping. And bush was going to bring back decency, etc.

A million years ago I went to school right up the mountain from Oroville in the small town of Paradise. One of my favorite teachers was in Paradise in about the 7th grade when she tried to explain the McCarthy (sp) hearings such as how do you defend yourself if accused of being the enemy, communist. She was a very good teacher.

29. They look to adults for guidance....
and we have a homicidal maniac as President. What does it teach our children when our President thinks a policy of preemptive punishment, either deserved or not, it the best way to handle a situation? Our country is all about violence first, talk (if there's anyone left to talk TO) is an afterthought.

Gotta' be quick on the draw...shoot from the hip. Might makes right. Sound like anyone we know?

12. There are young people out there that have problems relating
to others. One young fellow, about 16, that I know quite well, had problems in school and expelled. He is now in a special education type school where he is learning a skill. He is over the top in IQ tests. Smart as hell, just can't relate to the real world very well. Displays anger. What is society doing with people that have mis-firings in the brain? This is an uneducated persons description of a brain defect. They need to be recognized and helped.

11. It's over, folks. Nobody hurt. Suspect in custody.
OROVILLE, Calif. -- A possible shooting and hostage situation at Las Plumas High School has apparently been diffused.

The Butte County Sherriff's dispatch has reported that students are being released, and the gunman is in custody.

Charity Bailey of KNVN said a shot was fired into the air and nobody was injured. She said two female students were held hostage in the band room

<snip>

A notice on the Oroville Union High School District Web site says, "If your student is at the Las Plumas campus you will not be able to pick them up at this time. If you would like to pick up a student from another school be prepared to show identification and please be patient with the emergency support staff."

Some Parents, Students Protest At Knight High School
Security Guard Acted Violent, Uttered Epithets, Student Says

PALMDALE, Calif. -- Parents and students at Knight High School protested Friday morning because of an incident in which three teenagers and a mother were arrested last Thursday after alercations with security guards, prompting an investigation into the guards' behavior.

The altercations were videotaped by students at a birthday celebration during the school's lunch hour. At some point, birthday cake was tossed around and landed on the floor, sparking a series of events.

A female student who is shown on the video being held down by a guard said she had dropped cake and bent down to clean it up. She said when the security guard told her to clean up part of the mess that had been overlooked, a verbal altercation erupted -- and quickly turned physical.

19. There has to be some way to get kids to clean up after themselves
short of wrestling them to the ground and calling them names! I can understand the need to maintain order, but this is just wrong!

33. People still say "cool"
It's had an incomparable run as a slang word; 150 years or so without becoming either entirely accepted into formal language or abandoned by slang.

Edited on Fri Sep-28-07 01:19 PM by superconnected
I'll place a bet right now that it's not a female gun person. But I won't place a bet that there won't be a female gun person going on a shooting rampage at a schoole in the future in our fucked up society.
