Border Cities Block Access To Fence Land
Source: AP

Brownsville -- Mayors along the Texas-Mexico border have begun a quiet protest of the federal government's plans to build a fence along the border.

They have refused access to their land.

Mayors in Brownsville, Eagle Pass, Del Rio and El Paso have denied access to some parts of their city property to Department of Homeland Security workers. The feds have begun surveys and other preliminary work on the fence Congress has authorized to keep out illegal immigrants.

Brownsville Mayor Pat Ahumada said he refused two weeks ago to sign documents granting federal workers permission to begin work on city property.

6. I read somewhere that this will cut off the water supply for ranchers
down there, since their cattle/horses won't be able to get to the river. I'd be pissed too.

7. I don't know any Texans who want a fence on the border
But I know a lot who want the government to crack down on employers using illegal labor and to stop allowing the use of contract immigrant labor.
