Ruddock attacked for eroding freedom

THE chief executive of News Ltd, John Hartigan, has described the Federal Government's freedom of information review as "a disgrace".

Mr Hartigan, delivering the annual Andrew Olle address in Sydney last night, also accused the Attorney-General, Philip Ruddock, of increasingly compromising press freedom.

"Ruddock's decision to ask the Law Reform Commission to conduct a review on limited terms of reference is a disgrace. We live in times when press freedom - the freedom of speech - is more restricted than in living memory. And I don't say this lightly," Mr Hartigan said

Mr Ruddock last month announced the Australian Law Reform Commission would examine freedom of information laws and practice.

Having done everything in their power to assist fascist leaning politicians to lie and erode freedoms..the boss of News Ltd now cries foul..while at the same time lobbying the FCC to relax restrictions so Rupert Murdoch can control even more media outlets !
