NEW YORK (Reuters) - More than 200 federal and state agents searched the Tampa, Florida headquarters of insurer WellCare Health Plans Inc on Wednesday, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office in Tampa said.

Spokesman Steve Cole said the agents began their search of three to four buildings early in the morning and were expected to be finished by the end of the day. He declined to comment on what the search was about and said that the search warrant involved was sealed.

The law enforcement agents involved in the search were from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Department of Heath and Human Services Office of the Inspector General, and the Florida attorney general's Medicaid Fraud Control unit, according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice.

"The ongoing investigation does not directly concern, nor should it have any impact upon, the delivery of any health-care service to any person," the Justice Department said.

2. Uh oh....
they're my Medicare Part D insurance provider. The enrollment period for next year's insurer is coming up in a few weeks. It may be time to start looking for alternative insurers. I'll have to keep an eye on this story.

Thanks for posting this. :hi:
