Laura Bush tells US troops Iraq is improving
Source: AFP

KUWAIT CITY (AFP) - US First Lady Laura Bush said on Thursday that war-ravaged Iraq was showing signs of improvement and told US troops stationed in neighbouring Kuwait that Americans were solidly behind them.

"We are seeing signs of progress as thousands of Iraqis are stepping out to work with the coalition soldiers," Bush told some 700 US troops at Ali Al-Salem Air Base, 70 kilometres (45 miles) northwest of Kuwait City.

Dressed in a grey pantsuit, Bush was given a thunderous welcome as she entered a huge tent in the desert base which US forces use as a transit point for forces going in and out of Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, Bahrain and Djibouti.

...

The First Lady told the troops that despite some press criticism of the US mission in Iraq and Afghanistan, the American people are supporting their troops.

...

"I am here to tell you that the American people stand with our troops. No matter what you might read in the newspapers, people do appreciate the gift of freedom."

Civil War Soldiers Spread Lies to Keep Spirits Up

As the situation for the Confederacy became worse and worse, the lies told to Confederate soldiers by their officers and by each other became more and more outrageous. Then, it was that Grant had died in battle. Now, it is that Iraq is showing signs of improvement.

5. and if it were, how would Laura know that?
maybe if her daughters enlisted and were stationed there, they could write home and tell the folks how it is really going. After all, I'm sure that they love their country and trust their father.

11. And that is why Mrs. Bush deserves no slack.
She may not do it as often as the hired guns, but she is always willing to go out there and parrot any talking points that they give her.
