1. Sad that another American is harmed because of conservative values but
I do appreciate leadership on the ground and "leading."

2. There does seem to be a paucity of Brass on the ground.
But I doubt that this guy was "leading" anything. He was probably on his way to a meeting and just got unlucky.

I don't intend to sound cynical, but that is just how I think.

4. You may be right
When I was in Saudi our Admiral was safely tucked away and we only saw him for pep talks. I liked it that way.

8. Absolutely had to go and read the original piece...
as I was just having a hard time believing it wasn't some satire or other. While I knew we had a Commander-in-Chief Dorko, I was unaware there was a brigadier general with the same name. I imagine he must have had a rough time of things when he was in middle school.

13. Surely this can't be right?!
Just recently I saw a video of Mr. Chicken talking with, I think it was Bill O'Reilly, and when O'Reilly mentioned how hard Governor Bush works and how he never gets to take a vacation, nobody corrected him at all, at all.

20. Brig. gen. wounded in Iraq bomb attack
Source: Navy Times

An Army brigadier general was wounded in a roadside attack Monday morning in northern Baghdad, according to Multi-National Forces-Iraq officials.

Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Dorko is the highest-ranking American officer to be hurt in Iraq since the conflict began in March 2003, according to an Associated Press report.

Dorko’s injuries were not life-threatening, but he was evacuated to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, MNFI spokesman Spec. Charles Espie told Army Times. He is listed in stable condition.

. . .

He was riding in a convoy when the bomb detonated at 9:40 a.m., Espie said. Members of the British security firm Erinys International were accompanying the convoy. They evacuated Dorko and the other wounded soldier to a combat support hospital in the Green Zone, Espie said.

Another Army brigadier general was wounded in a similar attack in August 2005 in Afghanistan. Army Reserve Brig. Gen. T. Patterson Maney spent more than a year at an Army hospital recovering from his injuries before returning home to Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

21. It's not often we hear the name of Dorko uttered.
I hope he recovers nicely and becomes a staunch advocate for taking proper care of wounded vets.
