Governor seeks divine intervention to get some rain
Source: Atlanta Journal-Constitution

With no rain in sight, Gov. Sonny Perdue is looking for a little spiritual help to get North Georgia out of its drought.

Perdue's office has begun sending out invitations to a prayer service for rain at the Capitol next week.

The service is scheduled for Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. on the Washington Street side of the statehouse.

Heather Teilhet, his spokeswoman, said the governor began talking about wanting to host a service to pray for rain on his way back from Washington D.C. last week. He was in D.C. meeting with federal officials and the governors of Alabama and Florida to discuss the region's water crisis.

5. Well, his god only hears prayers from rich and powerful men
especially if they're speaking through PA systems and forcing other rich and powerful men to say the words along with him.

I've seen that one work.

I imagine Congress's prayers will work about as well as they usually do.

9. He should call in a state rain-maker
I am sure he could find someone who would do the job at a reasonable rate. If that doesn't work, he could slaughter some animals for Zeus, call in a squadron of witch-doctors, whatever. Something is bound to work eventually.

14. Great job gov. Damn, I'm glad I don't live in the south.
There are some great folks in those red states, but there are some real lulu's too. I swear, if I heard our governor tell us to all pray for something up here, I'd vote his butt out of office so quick he'd get whiplass on the way out the door.

It's a serious matter....lack of rainfall. But if this is what they think is going to save their asses, they had better keep a back room full of bottled water stacked up, cause they're likely in for a rude awakening.

Could we start the Civil War over ...just on paper? And this time let them win?

16. Pray for the wisdom to accept global climate change while you're at it
...Then pray to get your Republican president off his lame ass and move to do something about it.

Or maybe God really is mad at you for being such a dumbass after all. Too bad everyone else has to suffer through your ignorance of science.

18. I have nothing against BURKINA FASO... but
Dear (republican) Governor,
May I suggest that your "scientific" adviser contract with some Burkina Faso rain experts?
(of course as "technical adviser" with a non-bidding contract and at tax-payer expenses).
To expedite solution maybe King George could take some time to help finding some contacts
in the worldwide well know neighbor's Tribe Hominini, Subtribe Panina, Genus Pan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimpanzee">info here).

21. Well, the republican way is to hire lobbyists to offer perks, kickbacks,
bribes, and other favors.

Maybe the Gov. could hire Jack Abramoff to get it done for him.
