Dodd opposes Peru trade agreement

Senator Chris Dodd today released the following statement voicing his opposition to Peru Free Trade Agreement, which would take jobs away from American workers and send them to Peruvian workers instead.

"Americans are looking for change - but there's nothing new in supporting the failed trade policy of the last six years, which is partially responsible for the loss of 3 million manufacturing jobs. It's disappointing that Senators Clinton and Obama, in supporting this agreement, would support more of the same, which will only add to our deficit, taking jobs away from hardworking Americans and shipping them elsewhere.

"The United States must take a "strategic pause" and not sign any new trade agreements until we have a model for trade that raises -- not lowers -- living standards for the vast majority of Americans and the people in countries with which we trade. It's time to put the interests of our own people ahead of the interests of large corporations and give American families the reassurance that 'Made in America' means that their children will not be poisoned by imports."

1. Maybe
He opposed Mukasey too, then did not even vote. He knew this vote was coming sooner rather than later but chose to campaign instead. Could be wrong. Just saying.

2. Mods, this does not qualify as "Latest Breaking News."
Christopher Dodd was the DLC point man who worked closely with the biggest crooks in the Anthrax Congress--Tom Delay and Bob Ney--to fuck up our voting system so badly that our country will never be the same. Dodd was a chief engineer of the fast-tracking of electronic voting machines, run on 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code, owned and controlled by rightwing Bushite corporations, with virtually no audit/recount controls. He is a goddamned liar, hypocrite and destroyer of American democracy. He's trying to ride the leftist crest, get some well-deserved favors from Diebold/ES&S in the primaries, and position himself to be VP to whoever is crowned emperor, and perhaps even to become emperor himself. A real snake in the grass, this one. Bilderberg Group attendee (secretive global corporate predator meetings). I don't believe a word he says. Leftists, beware!

3. right on Dodd
now if he comes out with a good 20 more sane positions for the middle class he sure as hell should get some support in Iowa.
It's pathetic our "front runners" are dribbling out the usual corporate spin.
